Iran Sentences captured American hikers.

Id feel sorry that they had to serve the time and id miss them but i wouldnt argue that america should extract them and almost guaranteed fubar our relations in the middle east. As pakistan can attest, countries dont like it when you think you can just send in troops whenever you like. And these arent your brothers. You have no emotional attachment to them. They did something stupid. Why do you care?
 
This story is fucked. I feel so incredibly bad for those dudes- think about what it's like to be in jail in fucking Iran.

what did they expect? They went travelling along the border of 2 countries who hate their guts then went ahead and broke a fairly serious law. If I were Obama I'd leave them to rot, why would I want to risk the possibility of any more tension to save the sorry ass of two idiots.

If you're in a country that has the death penalty for premarital sex and you go ahead and bang some broad and get caught, the whole "well I'm allowed to do it in my country" most certainly isn't going to work. And maybe your country might try to interfere if they're already on good terms with the other. But forget about it if they're essentially enemies.

Then someone complains about "well it only happened because they're Americans". Well that was definitely a 'random' customs check that happened to that dude with a turban, right?

yeah it seems like a risky thing to do, but shit, id love to go camping/hiking there. not saying i actually would, but props to people who do. i think this is more a case of iran sucking and the hikers just having some extremely bad luck.
 
Well they were probably thinking that that area is rich in geography, fauna, and flora that is exotic to us and it would be an amazing place to see/experience. Some people take risks and don't like to live their lives wondering what things are like and instead choose to find out for themselves. With those risks are obviously consequences and it's a huge shame this is what the consequences had to be. I understand that there is political unrest and whatnot but at the time of their hike, it was supposed to be a peaceful area.
 
Sure, I hope this matter resolves itself, there have been issues e.g. with Swedish people in Iran suspected as spies and that case blew over in about three months if I recall, and they were women as well.

If you hike through the ghetto, you might get shot. It's why people don't do it. Iran hates Americans and would love to set us all on fire so why in the name of Jeebus would you go hiking there? It's literally the most hostile country to Americans on the planet except for MAYBE North Korea, which I hear far exceeds Iran's beauty BUT NOBODY GOES THERE BECAUSE ITS A STUPID IDEA!

So now you want us to FORCEFULLY go into Iran- break out a few stupid 'Merican douchebags who should have known better and leave again- and you think that will be ok???
