IQ bell curve?

My friend and I were talking about intelligence and he was bragging about his IQ being 170 and then he told me it was a bad thing though. I asked him why and he told me that he had done some research and that the people that make the most money are in the 130 IQ range, optimal range.

The bell curve he drew out looks something like this:

--------

/ \

/ \

/ \

/ \

------------- --------------------------

IQ: 80 90 100 110 120 130 140 150 160 170 180 190

BS or no?

Ya that makes some sense, because sometimes people with higher IQ's lack social skills. Which are needed to do many jobs.

It's supposed to be that people with higher IQs tend to express themselves more musically and artistically rather than academically. You're probably right too.

IQ has nothing to do with how much money you make. look at paris hilton. it has to do with motivation and determination, and what you want to do with your life.

the fact that you even mentioned that dumb slut in a thread about IQ's, your opinion should be omitted.

first off most people do not have 130 IQ. secondly my high school bio teacher said he was only tested with an 80 IQ yet he was a millionaire and one of the smartest guys i ever met

I remeber taking an IQ test a couple years ago as a freshman in high school and I scored a 121. soooo whats the point of college and the rest of high school if I could be making the most money possible for that IQ level.

I say IQ level and the amount of money you make are NOT related.

matt, there is no way your freind has an iq of 170. Thats borderline fucking genious if not already. if your freind actually had that iq, he would be a weird drama kid, or a bookworm.

He has no social life I just see him at lunch when I have to go talk to my spanish teacher. And he is extremely smart. I'd expect him to play the stock market and get to be a multi-millionare easily.

Seems like its probably because people that smart often work on a greater good that would benefit society, as opposed to making money.

It might have something to do with it. Like said here before people

with very high IQ express themselves more artisticaly. Maybe people

with an avarage IQ between 110 - 140 are able to think in way that's more effective (producable) in this society where as people with a lower IQ can be smart and succesfull to, but may not have the same values and effectivity for this society...

I'm not saying it's like that, it's just a theory. IQ may be, to some extend, related to personality and goals!

Dumb people think they're smart, intelligent people know they're dumb!

If stock market only took brains to become a millionaire, every other smart person would be rich. There is just a liiiitttttle bit more to it then that.

100 is average... 50% of the population is below that, 50% is above, thats how it works jsut so ya know

and higher IQ is related to success, we learned that in psych 2 oh yeah although i don't know if too high of IQ is a bad thing...

also learned from that same class, asians are usually 3 points higher than whites, blacks 15 points below and hispanics 13 points below on average so technically steroeotypes are somewhat true

I'd believe it. I'd also believe its a bullshit test that's incredibly biased towards middle income white males.

It makes perfect sense. The reason the people with 130 IQs make more money is because there are more people with 130 IQs. They're just saturating the market. If there are 100 slightly-smarter-than-average people and one really brilliant person, chances are good that one of those 100 slightly-smarter-than-average people will make more money than the brilliant person just because of luck/networking/etc.
