this has probably been posted before but, i just got one and is it worth getting iTunes or should i just use Kazaa? cos Tunes is like $1 a song isnt it?

itunes and kazaa are 2 totally different programs...itunes is like winamp, and kazaa is like acquisition for apple..

 
i tunes is free anyways, its a free mp3 player for ur comp. u can download it on apple.com. What isnt free is the music u can dl, I think its something liek a dollar a song and 10 dollas an album. could be wrong though since i dont use it

what if they go out of biss., the only good stuff would have concerts and the only stuff we would have to d/l is recordings from l ive concerts, other than the bands who are only in it for the money, in which they will eventually stop singing if we keep downloading

OK sorry Derek, I get your point. I guess what I meant to say was that they deserve so much money. Albums should be a dime a dozen. But the record companies aren't going out of business anytime soon, they rake in the dough like none other.

technically you don't NEED iTunes (not sure because I don't have iPod), because people with linux use iPods all the time.

 
iTunes works with Linux too...but, there are programs like EphPod, MacAgent and MusicMatch Jukebox that will also transfer music to the iPod, and I think Real came out with a driver for the iPod to be used on their new Realplayer.

itunes is also cool cause if you're in a dorm or some other connected network you can listen to other people's playlists from your comp.

Yeah iTunes is a great program for dorm living, we had something like 100,000 songs at our finger tips in our dorm when me and all my friends all had iTunes running over the network. Theres also a program (myTunes) that lets you download songs off other peoples computers over the network. You actually end up getting songs instantly, you can download an entire cd in probably 15 seconds.

And iTunes is definitely the best platform to send to an iPod over.

I tried using acquisition, and I got dick all as far as results for my searches went. I'm using limewire now.
