IPod warranty question

If you send in your iPod for repair and they decide not to fix it because you broke it (i don't know if i did or not i just took it out of my backpack and the screen was messed up), will they send your broken iPod back, because if they don't fix it, I will.

haha i just take mine to the apple store, and WAPOW! they give me a new one no questions asked.

i broke 6 of the original ipods,and no questions asked just gave me a new one, took my old one for a core,and i walked out happy.
