im thinking of getting one, since my other mp3 broke but i've heard mixed reviews, and that some break really easily, how are they? and is there any alternatives, btw cant get a zune because they arnt out in europe yet
 
mine works fine. its frozen once, i read the manual thing, and it said to press a combination of the top, center and bottom button(press 2 of them, forget which 2 it was tho, but its outa those 3) and it started up fine. once the battery drained outa no where, charged it n its been fine since. music lasts all day skiing, including ride there and home(1.5-2 hrs each way)

and one good thing ive found with ipods, any of them that is, is that theres so many things u can buy for them, like accessory wise...if u want something for another brand, its harder to find...ipod is just so damn easy
 
as they get old the battery craps out. in the cold they arent the best. other than that, they are golden.
 
yeah in the winter my pod would alwayz get real cold and not work that well, but i crochetd a case for it and its fine.
 
yeah mines been amazing. the only prob i have is the freezing part. it wasn't a big issue for me at all till come february when it was 15 below with windchill. if you ski where it doesn't get below 15 or somethin you should be fine.

anyone have good suggestions to stop it from freezing?
 
i heard something about condensation building up on the ipod and that screws it up if you have a handwarmer in there
 
I love mine except the only thing about them is that they get the "iPod" scratching which can be pretty bad at times. Mine isn't too bad becuase I have taken good care of it but I've seen some that are disgusting looking. I'm trading mine for a nano soon though for a change.
 
i love mine. never had any problems with it. the battery life could be a little longer when watching videos but oh well. i recommend it.
 
another good alternative is the Creative Zen Vision M. I got one instead of an ipod and i'm really glad I did. music and file transer is a breeze and i like how they look a lot more anyways. the screen is higher quality and you can change your background with your own pictures and customize a lot of it (not sure what you can do with an ipod). accessories are easy enough to find, so don't worry about that.
 
uploading videos can be a hassle. for me atleast.

they have great battery but when it's cold they freeze but that's easy to fix

makre sure you buy a case/cover for the screen at least so it doesn't scratch
