Ipod touch vs. nano

Yea I'm sure everyone will rabble about how useless this thread is but. I am buying a new macbook and it comes with either a 8g ipod touch or a 16g ipod nano. Now I know that the touch has all the games and internet and whatnot but here is where my issue for deciding is...In my vehicle I have a deck that my dad put in for me and I have an ipod cord that runs into my glovebox and hooks directly up to ipods and you can scroll thru it with the deck etc. Now my system in my truck works for every ipod except the touch for some reason (gay i know)

As of right now the size of the memory isnt that big of a deal because I only have ~1200 songs on my itunes. I usually only use my current ipod in my truck and am rarely carrying it around and listening to it while I'm walking/skiing but I feel like if I got the touch I would maybe use it more.

anyways, what would you recommend and why given my situation!

a touch they are way cooler and more fun. plus i have one so we would have even more in common and then should date

16g nanoi went from having 3g of music to 12g without noticing so you might fill that touch up too fast and it's harder to skate/ski with touch in your pocket since it's so much bulkier

don't buy either. buy a howler monkey, or something else equally cute/useful.

my advice would be to buy the nano cause of the hookup thing. and the ipod touch can do a lot of things, but if you drop it i would expect it would break easier. plus the touch is rather large. go with the nano

get the touch. ever since i got mine i use it every day, i bring it everywhere and connect to peoples internet. You can facebook and use ns where ever and if you dont have a case on it, it is not bulky at all. the only time it is noticeable is when i have skinny jeans on.(lol if you want but its true). it is easier to listen to certan music on without serching and you will definatly find it usefull. it is a good system. the nano is good too. neither are bad options. You will be happy with witch ever one you get.

I have a touch, and it's pretty difficult to use in a car if you are the one driving. Because of the "flow" that the touch has when scrolling, it makes it difficult to select the songs/items/whatever.
Although, I dont think you can go wrong in this situation. There seem to be perks for each. Good luck!

I think I'm leaning towards the nano due to the car hookup. And I have a blackberry so I don't need an ipod for the internet..

yeah if you already have an ipod that works in your car go with the touch.

you may end up using it more often out of your car and touches are just a lot more fun

Nano for the car thing and space. I have about 1400 songs and it's 8.48 gigs of space, I don't know how much you download music, but I'm sure you'll pass up 8 gigs quickly, and you don't actually have 8 gigs of space. It's a lot less because whenever you download an app it takes up space. Plus, the Nano can listen to radio and take videos.

if you already have an iPod that works for the car then use the touch. it's amazing, except 8g might be small so prepare to need to select your favourite 1400 songs and leave the rest at home. I have a 32gb and it's pretty much at the brim..

Here is a really good part about that deal. Last year when i got my mbp I got a 16 gig touch for 70 bucks. you can pay the difference of any i pod. for example my 16 gig touch. or the 31 gig touch for about 130. This also works with others like the classic. Last year you could get a 120gig classic for 20 bucks.

So assuming this is still possible you actually have a lot more choices than just those 2 i pods. IMO, the best option would be the classic just becuase you can fit more music than you will ever need to have on it for $20.

sorry I forgot to mention that the ipod I already have is a reallly old 2g nano that my friend gave me after my ipod broke, and its really annoying only having like 3-400 songs on it

If you go to the website there is a educational pricing area

on the computer I'm buying its $100 off (not much but its something) and a free ipod (you have to pay for it then send in for a mail in rebate)

I would say don't buy anything just yet. Apple is holding a conference where they are going to release the new Iphone and presumably the Ipod touch. So buying one right before the release means that you will be buying something that is instantly out of date.

This, I have the 160 back from when they were two options of 80 and 160.

Thing is solid as shit and it will be slimmer now to what the 80 used to be which is still a nice size.

Then you can use the time wasted with the decision to go get some more music and actually use what its meant for :)

Don't get the ipod touch. I have one, and it breaks easily compared to the nano, and if you have a few apps on it, it won't really hold many songs. Mine only holds like 800 songs without freaking out. Get the nano...

i just got the touch with my macbook pro and its dope. go for it. i still have my old ipod (first gen vid) and still use it for some stuff. just keep your old ipod in the truck and use the touch for everything else. then you don't even ever have to move it out of the truck.

i have both the 5th gen nano and a ist gen touch, and from what your saying i would go with the nano, cause it works with your stereo, and if drop it, it will be fine

16 gig nano for sure
They used to have a 16gig ipod touch, which i got last year with my mac, and that filled up with music so fast. The 8 gig would be worthless

yo should get the nano because it has more gigs also its not a great camera but it still has one and nanos are so durable

plus if you wanna ski with it, it's smaller and you won't have to worry about cracking a huge screen like on the touch
