okay so my car when i get my license in 2 months is going to be an 04 honda accord LX. I've been trying to figure out how to hookup my i pod to the stereo and the only way that would work is a FM transmitter. The only i found was the itrip for 50 bucks and i am asking NS, is there any other cheaper FM transmitters out there? and which ones are the best?

If you have an aux outlet get one of those chords, it's perfect sound, but if the only thing you can use is an FM transmitter, spend the money on a good one - it's worth it, i've had several cheap ones and they're awful. I bought a good one and its amazing.

if you live in a city dont waste your money on an FM transmitter, I live in downtown toronto, too many signals around, not a chance for a weak FM transmitter.
Id say depending on how old the deck in your car is, go with a Tape deck to headphone jack adapter. 3.5 mm i believe *dont quote me on that
if you don't id switch up the headunit for one with ipod controls, don't know if your state/province has laws about it, but in ontario you cant use your ipod while driving, but you can navigate it using a headunit.
if you dont need the controls in your headunit. just buy a cheap one with an aux in. OR go to a shop and have them wire in to your radio, so that its a direct connection between your ipod and a certain radio station.

if you have a tape deck, it is the way to go. so much better than an fm

i got a cheap one at like shaws for $10 and it broke after a few months, but then I went to best buy and spent like $20 on the one thay had, and it is amazing. sound comes through awesome, and it can work with anything with a headphione jack, including an ipod

Kick it old school. This is what I have to do. My truck is a 99 and only has a tape deck. It's cheap and it works just as good as anything else.

there are kits to wire in aux inputs into your sterio, they can be like $100 but ebay could give you a cheaper one, and if you really wana get a good one you can have them installed at best buy.

I don't live in ontario but I'm pretty sure the law would be you can't wear headphones while driving.

If you wear something that inhibits your ability to hear, you won't be able to hear cars honking or Emergency Vehicle sirens.

Not completely sure, but thats the law here in Maryland

that makes plenty of sense, but the wording in the post makes it sound like you're not allowed to touch your ipod while driving, I guess in the same idea that you're not supposed to text while driving? that to me is a little ridiculous.

tape deck or aux in. fm transmitter's are garbage; they distort the sound, although, if you're not an audiophile you probably won't hear the difference.

my two cents

alright thanks for all the help guys... ill try to see what options will work or wont... k+++

i'm not crazy, the nanny state liberals that have been in power are.
The legislation reads something along the lines of..."no hand held electronic devices" -from phones to gps's unless its hardwired into the cars electrical and mounted it cannot be used. IE. in dash controls are fine, but a portable garmin gps unit can only be touched while the car is stopped.

crazy eh?

that's insane! wow. Maine has a distracted driver's law, which basically means you can do whatever you want, but if you cross the yellow or white line, you can be fined for anything from texting to changing a cd or eating a sandwich.
