So a while ago, I installed the 1.1.2 update to my 160 gb iPod classic. but then, after it had been installed on my iPod, I found out that I had to have the newest version of iTunes to run it. I went to the site to download it, but I need either Windows Service Pack 2 or 3 (I can't remember which) to run that version of iTunes. Unfortunately, the computer has so many viruses that I can't install either service pack. Now I know how to downgrade the iPod firmware, and I've already downloaded 1.1.1, but the problem is that since my version of iTunes doesn't support the firmware edition, it won't recognize my iPod, and I'm unable to downgrade the firmware. Does anybody know how I can downgrade? I would really really appreciate it cuz I've been dealing with this problem for about a month and it's getting old.

I had the same sort of problem and unfortunately after trying to solve the problem for many months was unsuccessful and eventually bought a new computer ending the problem. I don't know if thats an option or not for you but i think thats what your going to have to do in order to solve your problem but if you do get a new computer you can have the newest version of ipod and itunes software witch is a plus. Good luck and sorry i couldn't really help you outStartFragmentEndFragment

First off download this free virus scan(http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download?prd=afe) and delete all the virus crap you have, and take off norton or any other security package you have cause again it doesn't do shit. Next you should be able to install those Windows Service Pack 2 or 3 to run that

version of iTunes. After you have completed these two steps, tell me if it works or not and i will help you from there

well i got a mac for xmas, so i could probably fix the problem if i was able to move my itunes library onto this comp, but i don't know how to do that. i tried moving it on a data cd, but i couldnt figure out how to open the songs on this comp. any tips?

actually if anybody can just tell me how to move my itunes library from my pc to my mac, that would be waaaay better, im sure its really easy and im an idiot, but i cant figure it out.

restore the ipod to its original settings if you can and then just start over, you probably shouldn't have let your computer get viruses though.....

uhhh....use a flash drive, most are mac compatible exept sandisk, and just put your itunes music from your pc on it then open the files with your mac.... that should do the trick.

if you open itunes on both computers and on the pc and go to settings or something...like up where its like 'file, edit' you should find settings around there and you have to find 'share library'...like its gray and you check a box next to it and then it goes black...[i'd go find it myself again but my fucking itunes is dead and wont open anymore...]

then your library should show up on the mac like on the left column by like videos - library - music - playlists... it should be like shared music - 'your names' library. you might need a special adapter though, i needed one to get mine onto my laptop but i didn't need one to get it onto my sisters...

or what i did, your ipod is 160g, if you only havelike 30g or sumthin enable disk use and use your ipd as a flashdrive if you dont have one

but before i enabled the sharing of my music i was messing around with all the boxes and checking different ones and i think you might have to like 'unlock' something else to make it so you can drag and drop instead of just see the music..

a firewire works good to transfer a lot of stuff, thats how i transfered my music from my old computer to my new one but it was from one mac to another so i dont know if it will help or not

No, it would be the same. Connect both computers together with a firewire. Restart the mac into target mode so it opens as a drive on the pc. Then just drag all the music into the Itunes folder in Music. Done.

i tried this, and when i plugged it into the pc as a disk, i got the itunes data file on there, but now that its on my mac, its still a data file. how do i turn it into songs? and i cant connect the comps cuz the mac is a desktop

WORD, i just got the new 80 gig and its wayy better than the ipod, and i owned an ipod. cooler touch pad, bigger, clearer screen, better videos (landscape), wireless sync, FM radio, and custom backgrounds. the software seems to work better than itunes for me too.

i think most people have just tried the first gen zunes, which probably did suck.

go to google, and search microsoft framework rollback. And clean up your damn computer, get rid of the viruses, spyware, adware, whatever.

You can use your mac as an external hardrive, then connect it to your pc with a firewire, and just move your whole library to the mac. this would save you having to do it 50 times with a flashdrive.

to put your mac in external hardrive mode you start with it turned off, then hold either "y" or "t" (i can't remember which one) and turn it on. it should display a green screen with an icon in the middle. then you can just treat it like a hardrive.

good luck

i have a sandisk and i've used it on mac and pc.

but i have a western digital external hd and it only works with my pc, a mac wont recognise it

well the problem with ipods is that they are alien devices that the government has hooked up with the aliens in order to steal the minds of todays youth and when the head phones go into some one rly dumb or rly smart they over power
