Alright so i just got an iPod mini for xmas and i took it skiing for the first time today... i fully charged it and everything and after only 3 hours the batteries died out... so is that normal for the first time? Isnt it suppose to last like 8 hours long or something... any help would be appreciated!!

The first time you charged it did you fully charge it then run the batteries all the way out...If you do that the first time it will make the batteries last ALOT longer for the life of the iPod. Also change the backlight timer to 2 seconds because the light is what runs the battery out really fast. It really wont affect you to have the light on 2 seconds because when you scroll around the the light will be on cause you are touching it...and as soon as you are done it will go off. Do that for sure it helps a ton.

the first time i charged it i didnt fully charge it... i used it then fully charged it and now its fully out and fully charged again... is this a problem...? I have a two year warranty on it so i could just throw it at a wall and get a new one if this is the case

I hate to say it, but if you didn't charge it fully the first time, that's probably your problem. Rechargeable batteries generally 'remember' that level as their maximum charge... it might be different with the one in the ipod, who knows...

When I was a little kid, I used to do that with all my radio controlled cars and they would only run for 3 minutes because I could never wait for them to charge fully the first time... Now I've learned my lesson and I charge everything.

check a website. Lithium Ion batteries are less prone to having a 'memory' but they do. ALWAYS CHARGE YOUR ELECTRONICS FULLY THE FIRST TIME it's a good rule of thumb so you dont fuck it up permanantly.

The full charge thing is a good idea, but it really doesnt make much of a difference (my cousin works at apple, so i asked him). The thing is, apple lies. they say 8 hours of battery life, but he has yet to see one actully get 8 hours in all the tests they've done.average is between 4-5 hours. dumb, eh?
