IPod help please!!!!!!!1

So i have a 1st or second gen ipod nano and when i plug it in to my computer it charges but doesn't show up in itunes or on MY Computer. so what the hell is going on cause i haven't been able to upload new music in a while and it's getting really annoying cause i just have party music on it right now
 
hmmm, wher abouts on your comp are you plugging it in? i had a problem for ages with my pod by plugging the cord into a usb extension port. but i found out that i had to plug it in direct to the computors usb coz thats more powerful. yay? nay?
 
Try differnt usb ports on the computer. I have 3 in the front of my computer and only one works. I am using a pc unfortunatly but it is a computer
 
i had the 2nd generation ipod and that happened as well so what i ended up doing was buying a new one b/c more and more just got messed up with it

so it could just be that it getting old

 
its possibly the ipod then. ive herd alot of talk about ipods only being designed to last not much longer than their waranties last. i have had 5 ipods onto my 6th.
 
that happened to my 1gen nano and i tried the cord from my newer 30gig video (this was a while ago) and it worked like a charm

so try a new cord
