can you replace these fuckers by yourself or do you ahve to send it in?

and yes i checked the search bar, and looked through some other threads but nothing on battery replacement

if your replace it your self you give up any warentie that it may have, and its hard to do. way easyer to just send it in. or spend the 100 and get eh protection plan. Then take your ipod and smash it into a table a few tims, untill you hear stuff shaking arounf nside it. Then send it in and they give you a new ipod, thats what iv been doing sence ipods came out way back in 2001

i sent in my ipod to get my battery replaced and thought that id get a new one

but they dont do that

they replace the battery but the get your pod all dirty and shit

Yhea, don't buy Ipods just because everyone has them. Its just a fashion. They cost more and I hear constantly about Ipods breaking and shit. I rarely hear about other mp3 players breaking... Plus the I-pood accesories cost sooo much!

U have iPod 3?? damn that thing is fucked up. When im in the gondala I turn it on and before im at the top it alrwady died:S

go on ebay, buy a battery for ten dollars and replace it yourself its really easy. If you need help feel free to pm me. Ive done it twice now and it takes just 20 minutes.

Alright here's a little guide:

1.) Find a guitar pick or a credit card.

2.) Holding the metal ipod bottom firmly in one hand, take your other hand and push the white top over, exposing a gap between the top and bottom parts of the ipod.

3.) Stick the pick or the corner of the credit card into the gap, try to get it to go in about 3/4 of a centimeter.

4.) Now carefully slide the pick/card around the seem of the ipod, this will undo the clips that hold it together, and the white top and metal bottom should come apart.

5.) Once you have separated the top and bottom, flip the top portion upward so that it lies on its face, be careful of the copper connector tape, do not break or detach it.

6.) Lift up the harddrive (big metal thing with blue rubber around it, and detach it from the connector which is under a sort of foam pad. Set the harddrive aside.

7.) The battery is the little black thing under the hard drive, lift it up and work the wiring out from around the motherboardish thing. Then using your fingernails unclip the little battery connecter near the top of the little white box thing.

8.) Dispose of the dead battery (there is some responsible way to do this, but i don't know what it is)

9.) Now take your new battery and work the wires around and under the mother board thing.

10.) Then plug the little battery connection into the spot where you unplugged the dead battery.

11.) Stick the battery in the space and jam the wires in around it so that it all fits.

12.) Plug the hard drive back in and snap the top back on your ipod making sure that the lock switch is in the same position on both halves of the ipod.

Good luck.

haha, i'd say archos sucks the big one.

if you're gonna say that ipods suck, at least suggest a worthy alternative. say perhaps a creative or an iriver, but definitely not archos.

ahahah!

okay, apparently this part is kinda confusing.

What you do, is you push the top white part of the ipod to the side so that you can see the edge of the metal bottom. Once this gap is exposed you wedge it open with the credit card.

Imagine a book resting on top of a box. You slide the book to the side and expose the inside of the box. Its the same motion, except you have to push the top over hard, and once you see that hairline crack looking from aboce, you stick the pick down into the crack, so that if you're putting the pick on the right side of the ipod, the white top part is on the left of the pick and the metal is on the right.

actually im glad i dont have an ipod those stupid pieces of shit break so much. ive never once had a problem with my player and its lasted me quite long

Thats because no MP3 player comes close to comparing with how successful the Ipod; with so many Ipod owners its a lot easier to hear about bad things going wrong.

Im just fine with my iPod photo. It does what its supposed to do. Hold songs. Everyone is telling you should get the video. Im like no. Theres nothing wrong with mine. It does what its supposed to. Nothing more nothing less. And if your going to buy a case buy one youll be happy with forever otherwise you'll be shelling out a hell of a lot. I bought only one case that was $50 and thats the only one I ever bought.

anytime i try to play this one specific song, even after charging my ipod for an hour it tries to claim that its dead, then says the whole "please connect ipod to power source" battery's dying bullshit.

then just blacks out.

but if i play any other songs its fine.

just so happens that one song is my favourite.

kids are too rough with electronics. hense why all these ipods break. a damn kid needs a toy not a dope computer handheld

you dont hear much of other mp3 breaking because mostly everyone has ipods. If one did break, do you think we would hear about it, let alone care.

yo its mad easy i bought a new battery off ebay for 15 buck with shipping and all. for the mini u just take off some little parts and take out the odl crappy batter throw this new baby in takes liek 15 minutes and works like magic!

id say just get a new ipod. its not worth replacing the battery, and for everyone that hates the ipods, didnt the zune just come out today or something? check that out looks pretty sick. but i am content with my mini.

my battery will be like 2/3 full then i wil the the message "no battery power remains, please plug into power source" and it just dies. occasionally ill reset it and have full battery (or so it says) back.
