IPhone?

I am really tempted to get one of these because they are so sick. I have enough to buy one if I want. My only question is, what is the durability like? I've heard it's super sensitive to moisture and is really delicate? Is this true? I will be skiing with it because I don't want to change phones every time I ski, so is it durable enough to ski with? I won't be dropping it in the snow or anything but moisture wise and stuff. Also if someone one here has one that is unlocked let me know, I may just buy it!

i would try and find a hard case if you buy it. that huge screen just screams crack me.

My friend has one and its super sick, we watch vids on it when we're bored in class cuz its got internet, he loves it. I dont know about the moisture problem, though he has never said anything bad about it.

id say no because apparently, even with the new ipod touch, it freezes really easily especially when its cold.

I bought one and I'm returning it. It's a cool toy, but not a great phone. I'd rather have a good phone.

Also, as fun as it is, it's not all that useful. You can get google maps on lots of phones these days. But the edge network (what you use when you're not on wifi) is pretty slow, so forget enjoying youtube. And, chances are, when I'm somewhere that has wifi, I either have my laptop, or I'm with people and not going to be tooling out on my phone anyway.

My 2 cents.

First off, if you're worried about scratches, both are like impossible to scratch on the screen, but the ipod touch has the regular ipod back thats super scratchy, where as the iphone has the one thats brushed over and doesnt scratch. As for freezing, just keep it in your coat and ittl be fine. Iphone are bigger so i would assume theyd be a bit more durable, but both would be good i would assume. Obv. Its gonna gte messed up it you land on it, but most stuff would.

If you already have a phone, i would also recommend getting a touch, I've hacked mine so it has all the iphone apps and then some. The only thing an iphone has that my touch doesnt is a phone (duuuh) and unrestricted wireless internet access, (the touch's is restricted). Idk just my two sense.

yea i have one and i love it...its so sick and useful cuase when u rbored u can go online or watever and the phone call making is good, the pictures are amazing, and the internet is pretty easy to use once u get the hang of it.

i woudnt ski with it though because thats just retarted if ur gunna ski i would prob recoment an ipod or soemthing like that

dude you could spend your money on something soooooo much better. don't fall for the stupid iphone hype...spend it on something that will really benefit you

are you serious? Im assuming you dont even mean what restricted and unrestricted wifi means. But nonethless. You can only use the touch's wifi in zones that have unprotected wifi or wifi that you know the password too. The iphone's would be unrestricted because u r on a network like AT&T and can use it no matter where you are as long as you;re reception to an at&t tower isnt garbage. Thats wtf im talking about.

Make sure that the screen is covered by someting when you use it. In some testing they found that the acid from your hands breaks down the screen or something so make sure irs covered.

I want one too. The screen is made of glass so it won't scratch as much as the old ipod videos but still pretty sick.

there's a durability test on youtube (not the one of the guy just smashing one for fun because he's an idiot) they're incredibly durable. my dad has one and it doesn't feel fragile at all.

homeboy i know your just waiting for someone to say yes so you can use it as a disclaimer when you drop 600 dollars worth of technology into the snow or crack the screen. dont take it skiing. dont take it anywhere you dont want to put it down and it be gone in seconds. just dont get it. its not a sound investment and will be cheaper or replaced in a year by something better. just get a solid phone like some verizon phone or whatever. i dont have a phone because they break and i lose them. so my advice dont get one if you plan on skiing with it or if you just want the toy of the class.

If you think you will use it and have the money and dont like anything better then get it. BUT dont take it skiing. I know its good to have a phone while skiing but you have to be crazy to take it skiing. it will break and it wont be replaced. Some people are much safer with their things than others. Just take care of it and dont lose it. It shouldnt be so hard if you know what you are doing.

K, I got my iphone the day it came out (stood in line for 26 hours). I loved it the day I got it, and I love it now. As far as durability goes, just play with the thing, it feels like a rock. The glass screen is awesome and won't scratch. Cracking the screen is a bit of a worry, but if you get a good case, you should be fine. I use it as my e-mail client, so I can check my e-mails on the go. I'm not gonna tell you all the features, you can look at the apple site. Worst thing about it is the edge network, but it's not that bad, you just need some patience. As far as battery goes, mine lasts about 2 days (sometimes more, sometimes less) depending on how much you use it. There are ways to increase the battery life, like leaving wi-fi off, screen brightness, etc. K, that's enough typing. The point is, the phone is amazing and i use mine constantly.

And most importantly, who wouldn't want to be able to go on newschoolers at anytime?

I wouldn't worry about durabilty....I got hit by a car that was going 45 mph and the iphone that was in my hand went through the windshield and landed in the front seat of the car...still works just fine.

about protecting the screen...you can buy a sticky plastic-like sheet to put over it(kind of like what comes new over phone screens, etc.) that helps keep the gigantic screen from breaking. and if you wait a while, or atleast wait to ski with it, you make be able to get a waterproof case, like they have for ipods
