So I went to the iTunes store to download the new OS and it gave me this bullshit:

Anyone else have this problem?

Well since it said there was a problem in the Itunes Store I thought maybe others would have the same difficulties. I'll go to the apple forums.

Not a solution but I guess this is the problem.
"Error -4 is a time out error caused by high server traffic. However, synching software to an iPod doesn't require any server contact. As the problem resides with the iPod Touch and not on the iTunes Store, you will need to contact technical support for further assistance with this error. To find the appropriate phone number, please visit:

...i've been using the 3.0 software for the ipod for a little while now and the only problem i had was not having the 8.2 update for itunes

sucks for the rest of you :P

sorry for the thread jack

Can't help you^^ but to everyone else having to update problem. I ask my dad who's a computer geek (he's a photographer) and he says that it's most definitely because so many people are trying to get it at once so the Itunes Store just has an overload type deal. Patience.

FUCK. I spoke too soon. It just took me through all the license agreement shit then told me to try my purchase again. And of course it didn't work when I tried again. Fuck this.

^ ssssssssh
let the noobs find out the new features for themselves.
and cut and paste is clearly the best new update.come on, no more retyping emails or text messages. FTW!
beeyah

for sure. it took me so long to figure out how to search the whole hard drive instead of specific area. i wonder why there isnt a manual or something

i had a similar problem with my iphone today, the software downloaded but wouldnt install because it said "the iphone registration server is too busy"I rebooted my computer and it worked after that

same thing happened to me..i just disconnected it, restarted my iphone and plugged it back it. then it restarted and everything was loaded on

Definitely not a unique problem. Apple's servers are getting slammed. My advice is to wait until it all calms down tomorrow. It's not really that big of an update anyway. Really the only main new features (for me - iPod touch owner) were Push Notifications, Spotlight Search and Cut/Copy/Paste. Even on the iPhone, MMS and Tethering are disabled on AT&T, so there's no rush.
