Looks the same besides the iOS 7 and the new fingerprint scanner. I'm digging the new gold and white color scheme though.

because getting into your phone was such a hassle to begin with.

entering that HUGE LONG PASSWORD THAT YOURE ALWAYS FORGETTING!!

....

lets just implement something new just to say "ALL NEW!"

even though we don't fucking need it. it'll get 14 year olds pannies all wet and make the soccer moms of the world scream "holy moly this is incredible never before seen technology, how riveting!"

Really. I've never seen fingerprint technology like this on a phone. Even if it was, it still has that 64bit processor.

I am however, curious as to what would happen if you were going to use a case like the lifeproof or otter box.

It's because its actually pointless. You don't seem to understand what a 64-bit system even does. If a device is running 4gb or RAM or less, a 32-bit system will operate just as fast as an identical system that is 64-bit. Apple didn't make 64-bit computers for a very long time, windows did it for years before them but apple didn't do it because it was pretty expensive to run 4gb of ram. Now that 8gb of RAM is stock in most computers now 64-bit systems are somewhat stock too. 64-bit will be relevant in phone but not for at least 2-3 years. Even the highest end phones that haven't even come out yet only have 2 or 3gb of RAM...

I can only imagine it still affects it positively in some way... They wouldn't do it just to say it and then lie when they say it's faster.

On a side note, Apple's been going downhill at an accelerating rate since Jobs left.

It's obviously going to be an improvement, I didn't mean to say it wouldn't. Its going to be faster because it a new faster processor, its just not entire because its 64-bits.

I was really just trying to say that them claiming the 64-bit processor is actually just a gimmick because no matter what processor they put in their phone, its going to be faster because its a year newer. Most processors now are 64-bit and I think only phones use 32-bit processors still, im sure you'll see new snapdragon processors being 64-bit soon too BUT its not because using a 64-bit processor is better its because thats the new tech and soon 32-bit processors won't be produced anymore.

I didn't mean to patronize you, but the one fact of "this processor is 64-bit" doesn't necessarily make it better or faster. There are many other aspects of this new processor that make it better and faster that have nothing to do with it being 64-bit.

I've said this years ago, and say it again: this is where it's heading to; and Apple is really smart to start with this.

The next step in personalized technology is that everything is going to be connected to your body, your being. Fingerprinst are the most obvious tool for that. In 10 years we will be paying with our fingerprinst.

How so?

I'm not arguing there won't be an improvement. I'm arguing that the 64-bit label is a gimmick. I guess I'm just having a hard time explaining my point. I tried to think of an analogy but nothing simple is coming to mind.

Basically, no matter what the new a7 processor will be faster, whether its 32-bit or 64-bit. If the two processors were identical minus being 32/64 there wouldn't be much difference. BUT thats where this scenario becomes unrealistic because there are no 32-bit processors identical to 64-bit processors because "new" 32-bit processors don't really exist anymore. If apple put all their tech and research into a new 32-bit processor, it'd probably be a similar speed (2x faster, 56x faster than iphone 1 etc). See what i'm saying?

Incomplete. 64 bit processors do allow for more registers and technical optimizations, but there are a few points you fail to address:

- iOS is written in ObjC, and the level of coding required to make full use of 64 bit systems is a high cutoff. When was the last time you trusted an app developer to properly develop optimized apps?

- I see no changes to the SMBUS or cache, further making 64 b processors pointless.

- If the underlying iOS system is rewritten to be 64bit, this also means higher memory traffic, which implies skyrocketing memory costs which, if not handled properly by updated hardware and a hell of a lot more RAM, would make the 64bit system worthless. In fact, less worthy than previous versions.

Sure, you might get rich apps and it'll look better, but the memory costs are too great in my opinion. Simultaneously running the risk of third party app development in a language known for memory leaks and poor performance if done incorrectly? That's a recipe for disaster.

This is, of course, a worst-case scenario opinion. I'm sure it'll do just fine. I just don't trust shitty app developers.

all new so you can download porn in 2.08 seconds instead of 2.12!

what a life changing, revolutionary feature to hit the phone. they practically reinvented the wheel!

Too simple. 64 bit implies 64 bit registers which allows for most arithmetic computations to be done in parallel and supports the sort of concurrency we've come to expect from most applications. It is by no means a gimmick.

So what's the difference between 32 and 64 bit? Precision, storage capacity, and the amount of information that can be stored in a single register. All of this leads to faster things, of done correctly.

Well yes, I am being very simple but I understand the point of 64-bit systems and their advantages but in the iphone i doubt a 64-bit system is really doing that much BUT the other aspects of the processor (cores/threads, speed, etc) are much more effective on the speed vs just being a 64-bit system.

Anyways, I'm not trying to get into a huge computer debate with you because you will no doubt own me, but I'm just saying its another classic apple move hyping up the 64-bit processor.

Yeah, and I addressed pretty much everything you said in my post @gato.

I expect the underlying system to be done well, but considering the standard quality of app available on the market makes this a bad idea imo.

This. People are so stupid to not see how bad apple is jewing consumers. I love my iphone but god damn, they know how to win over peoples hearts.

On the topic of iphones, apple should send me a free one for still having a 4 thats this fucked up thats somehow still running

Lets make this a "fucked up phones that are still running" thread.

Okay, it's not just iOS 7 and the scanner to be fair. I like apple, but I wouldn't go as far as being a "fanboy."

1) It has a dual-core processor bank, which should make the phone immensely faster and allow the Facebook app to shit on you even more

2) Dual LEDS(I find this a bit silly) that apparently are colored to emit a natural light look. I'll be interested to see how that turns out.

3) The fingerprint scanner is actually pretty cool, the way the implemented it.

4) Mega slow-motion camera. 720p video at 120fps. That's right. 120fps. Ski edits incoming...

5) They messed with the camera but I have no idea what the hell they were talking about.

Personally, I like it. It's cool that they are making a cheaper consumer-friendly edition as well as the nicer higher end iPhones. I'll be excited to use a lot of these features. Although the basic chassis and weight has not changed much, the internals have. It's pretty cool.

They said in their findings only half of iphone users had a lock screen. Thats millions of people who left their phones unlocked, so they came up with a quick way to satisfy everyone. And they were successful and then pathetic individuals like you bash it. hahaha fag

MY screen isn't that bad, but my back is so fucked up. This phone has survived being thrown out a two story window, dropped in my toilet, and dropped in a river (was fully submerged for about 45 seconds). IT hasn't stopped working yet.

I think barstool nailed it

If Apple’s plan was too trick people like me into buying a Gold iPhone because they know I’m a sucker that craves the lavish lifestyle well mission accomplished I guess. Way to go. I mean yeah, it’s probably the exact same iPhone that I own right now but mine isn’t Gold and that makes me feel poor and there is nothing worse than being poor, nothing. So done. Sold. Good work Apple. You beat me, and honestly I don’t care. You figured out the perfect phone for Black people and superficial bloggers who are trying to compensate for their below average penis size. Hats off.

Oh and for anyone who says owning the Gold iPhone isn’t very common man I disagree. This is exactly what being a common man is. Owning shit that is way beyond your budget, eating peanut butter and jelly everyday so you can gamble and have a gold iPhone. There is nothing more common man than poor money management and guess what, no one mismanages their money more than I do, my snow cone maker, nerf gun, and monopoly tie being perfect examples.

Their goal was probably to create a version that makes it obvious from a distance that you have the latest version, but gold hasn't made a comeback from the late 80's and early 90's with the exception of guidos and kardashians, so it will be interesting how many sell.

Gold iPhone is marketed to the Asian markets.

Yes, housewives and guidos are going to be making up a small portion of the sales, but I guarantee the majority of them will come from China.

except not really...

Regular texting is wayy slower than imessaging and is inconsistent as fuck. Your texts longer than 160 characters come to iphones in jumbled blocks. And you probably still have an inbox and outbox which sucks for you.

i actually just ordered the original moto razr v3 for 29 bucks for my trip to europe and im fucking stoked

I find people who buy every iteration of the iPhone (3, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, etc.) to be fucking hilarious, quite honestly.

Apple has been getting shit on since it invented the smartphone. My dad had a Motorola RAZR when the original iPhone was unveiled.
