Ios app writing

so, basically, i have a really decent (NOT GREAT) idea for a skiing app, and i'd like to learn how to code it myself, and do it all by myself, not just come up with the idea. it might take a couple years before it gets done, but i'm okay with that...

does anyone know how to write apps? or code? or tell me where i should start?

any help is appreciated and definitely +k.

Just where to start...

I'm starting a community (or using NS as a base community) to join my app world and make GPS locations of hittable rails in urban ski areas. Basically, since I don't know where all of the rails are, I'm going to be able to have the users upload locations, so other users can find that rail. Say, you're rolling through a city, but only for a couple hours, you want to be able to find the rail/rails as quickly as possible because you don't have a lot of time. This app will show all rails within a certain area.

The only problem that I've come up with so far, is that for the first little while, there won't be many spots on the app because I'm not currently traveling as much as I used to.

Firstly.1) How old are you?(answer this truthfully, it gives me a better understanding of how you can pick up on coding)

2) Do you know any computer languages?

3) Do you know how to model things, like a hand, or character

4) Do you know anything about Online/Multi-player?

1. 22

2. no

3. no

4. no

I'm not trying to make a game. Just an app.

I'm really not even in the right, trying to figure out how to do this.

use a google maps API will get you the basic functionality. but OP if you really want to do this type of stuff you are gonna need to learn to program. Your going to have bugs, shit that your like WTF why is it doing that? and YOU will have to figure it out, its not easy. Its not drag and drop word-press HTML sites.

Are you in highschool? go to college for computer science and get learned! Its pretty awesome i'm graduating in December and i feel like i can create anything i put my mind to, its like fucking lego's or minecraft (shitty examples hahaha), with enough time and effort you can create anything your mind dreams of!!! /end rant

codecademy.com gives lessons on learning to write code. i don't know if it's the write language or whatever, (forgive me i don't know shit about this stuff) but it's a place to start. learned some basic HTML shit before

Haha I already pmed op about codecademy, and it's probably the best place for beginners. I think what he needs is jQuery. I'm not really good with network programming ie having more than one person do something in an application

That's my main thought. Who is hardcore enough to ski in a city? I've been thinking about it all day. I know that there are some people that will. But, on the other hand, who wants an app to blatantly break the law. Just a thought. I think it's a cool idea, if I get enough free time, it could become a possibility.

Okay, I'm back. www.codecademy.com has really kept me busy the last couple days.

Any help from any jQuery code writers out there? I'm stuck on assigning values, and it's making me sick, I've been stuck on it for hours.

+K to any help!
