For all of you that dont know about this go to www.invisiblechildren.com and check it out. Basicaly three young guys went to sudan and uganda to make a movie, there they found a story. This lead them to create Invisible Children. It is a great cause to help out the tarrible situation in northern Uganda right now. Plese go to this sight and atleast read what they have to say. Also I really recomend the movie it is very good. You should also sign up for the Global Night Commute, this saterday april 29th.

a few of them have been on my campus tlaking with people, I haven't had time to hear any of them speak, but from what I've heard they're very strong people and have an amazgin story.

they will probly show their film some where near you then, it was free to see it here so it probly will be there to, on the 25th there are screenings in New York, South Carolina and Texas. More details on the sight. At first I was not going to see the movie but my teacher made it extra credit so I went, if I had known what it would be like I would have paid to see it.

Ya they are showing it on my campus (Hamilton College) in the next couple of days. Its supposed to be extreemly compelling right?

i saw the like 30 minute highschool version, they make it pretty intense, gets a good point across, i dont know if i agree with the global night commute, but i dont want to start any arguments so im not going to give reasons. ill probably end up going in burlington tho.

movie is def worth checking out.

yeah, deffinitly go see it, it is only an hour long and will not take up your intire evening.

For the people that dont know here is some more info for you.

Uganda has been in civil war for over 20 years. The rebel forces, known as The Lord's Liberation army, is trying to overthrow the goverment. They want to install a Christian gov. that "falls directly in line with god." They are very violent in their attempt. They live by violence. No one volinters to fight with/for them, all the soldiers are forced to fight and kill. The even sadder part is that almost all of the fighters are children from under 5 years old to around 18 years old. At night the rebels come to the viliges and kidnap the children. At first they will kill the young children and some of the older ones to shock the rest into submission. The kids are tied into a line then taken in to the bush (jungle). At the camps the kids are brain washed to kill. Any who is not doing the right thing for the rebels is, tortured, whiped, mutilated and killed.

To avoid being abducted, the children will walk up to 12 miles to the towns each day, so that they can sleep as a group, with safety in numbers. These kids will sleep in buss lots, hospitals, and any other large areas. thousands of these kids sleep in the same area every night, just so that they wont be kidnaped.

This orginization is trying to help these kids.

it costs $20 and you can get it at Invisiblechildren.com For the $20 you get two copies, the idea being that you keep one and give the other to someone else to help spread the word.

That movie wasn't the best in terms of editing or presentation, but the sheer story behind it is powerful. It a must see.

no, the presentation and editing were not that great, it was there first attempt at a movie though. I did find some parts to have great edditing, overall a really good first movie.

Did you guys check out the bracelets their selling? They seem cool, and it seems like a good way to donate. I feel so bad for those kids that I bought all the bracelets.

bumping cuase I care,

seriously why would you not want to get togeather with your friends and go sleep out at a park with 1000 other kids, one night. Sounds like a big party.

I want to sign up but i need to see if someone can go with me first. But if i'm allowed, i am DEFINITELY there.

I am actully goin and im super excited i knew about it for liek 2 months its gonan be sweet, and its aaalllll over the US in liek 100's of citys just go to the site and check it out, plus who knows it goin get as much coverage at the live 8 stuff

You should try and get your friends to go with you, or get a whole group of newschoolers to go to geather. I am thinking of getting a whole group of kids from my school to go. besides from all the hippys that will do the thing bare foot.

I deff spread the word at my school today alot. alot of kids said they'd check it out when they got home and probably sign up..

good deal.

they have some pushy jerks at all the concerts i go to who ask me to buy like 10 copies of it. it pisses me off

i have seen the movie hear in ontario, it is moving and an incredible story, there has been a lot about uganda in the news recently and has real gotten me thinking about life in general and how fortunate we are to be able to have a safe place to sleep at night. Message definatly needs to be spread on.

This is a good thing. I went to a showing at my school a few weeks ago. This week is the national sleep outside night.. or whatever they call it. Support this yo!

yo we watched the movie today in school and it really made me feel bad for all those kids sleeping in the parking garage or whatever. i think im gonna go to the one in harrisburg too.

Wow, this is awesome, I wish I had heard about it earlier so I could have signed up for the GNC.

Will there be another one? And will they send the RVs out again?

funny i read this tonight... i am active with invisible children, and the film/session is in our city tonight down at the Freedom Center, but i wasnt allowed to go ( which i was upset about) - im bummed out but yeah i am active and support it mucho!

i wanted to go tonight, but i got stuck babysitting my fucking brothers, i am in total support of them though, this thing really needs to get out

no, i meant the whole global night commute thing, by the way, does any one know how it went in whatever city your from or near?

yeah they did this in my town last night we were walking around and then we saw like hundreds of hippies sleeping everywhere and we were like what the fuck? someone explained it to us, and not to be mean but from what he said i dont really see how it could help, he said they arent raising money and its only for awareness. how is sleeping gonna help? they should be actually doing something instead of sleeping, seems a little lazy to me.

mabye i just heard it wrong though.

^All the kids in Uganda make treks like that to sleep together to avoid being kidnapped by a rebel army. So we just made a trek, and slept together to imitate them, and draw attention.... Alot of news crews were at different places, so it did attract attention... That was the reason why. Anyway.. keep an eye out for the next showing near you...

i think i talked to those people when i was in huntington beach last winter, i was woundering if i had given my cash to a legit org, i guess i have my answer
