Invasion of Colorado

Hey, anyone from Texas or Kansas or ne where else over the world, why the fuck do u come to colorado? First off we have low snow levels, go to Washington. I hear they get 800 inches. Go to cali that way u fit in. Not that we dont want you here but u friggin crowd our slopes and make ppl that r good get injured and die like all the bozos at Keystone. I saw these ppl whereing Texas Tech jackets and they were skiing under the gondola and ran into a local skier throwing trix when the park was still on that side of the mountain and he ran into him. The kid went off while the local tore a ACL, that local was my bud.

why would you even say such a thing? yeah i hate it too when tourists go through the park and shouldn't be there. that's totally their fault. but who do you think pays full price for a ticket and rents lodging through the resort? where do you think the mountain makes its money? why do you think you even have a park to ski in? tourism fuels the industry. look at the bigger picture.

While it does fuel the tourism explain to me how places like CB stay open, there is never a lift line or crowd there. Its nearly the size of some of our bigger resorts now that there expanding. There still open.

Crested Butte wasn't doing so well, that's why the owners sold it. The new owners are trying to expand it to bring in more tourists. Locals don't spend their money at the resort. It's basic business principles. And I don't think yelling at texans on newschoolers is going to do anything. Not many of them come to this site.

Yeah the butte has a dedicated following of people that have been there and keep going there because they know it and they like it. plus they have the parents that send their kids to the acadamy so they can learn to race. that brings in so much cash. no one LIKES tourists but we put up with them so that we can do what we do.

Sloths are chill

I bomb korea every night.

good point guys thanx for the input, when i blame it on texans its out of anger for my friends injury. And i realize it helps our economy and stuff. But i mean if u look at somewhere like cali whos got more snow or somewhere like wyoming than i would much perfer to there if i were a tourist. Plus we can barely push an average of 300 in at ne mountain over the last 10 yrs. And dont say that maybe i should ski somwhere else. But if u noticed a guy put something in here that colorado blows come to Utah, that pisses ne of us off. The point im trying to reach is that Colorados ski economy could never be in ne trouble for the price of skiing. And they do that cuz ppl come here. Compare pass prices to nearly out of state resort for just one mtn than here u can get 2 or 3 for half the price or same value as one that may be in Utah or sumthing. I mean a place like Hood or Hole or even sun valley, charge like 40 bux for a ticket.(estimate) Than you go somewhere huge here and nots unregular to drop more than 60 bux. eve at monarch. But thanx for the Butte and A-basin 'a'?

wolf creek gets over 500 inches annually.

^and when you go there on spring break it's literally 90% texans/oklahomans/nebraskans in their church buses/vans. but most of them just sit at the base lodge and drink wine out of a plastic cup, and none of them would ever consider going off the groomed trails, even at wolf creek, so it still isn't that bad

Abba Zabba, you my only friend

unless ur at keystone, and im not a person that has money to drive to somewhere like wolf-creek to ski(no arogance meant) the source question is y colorado. and wolf creek gets more like 300-400 anually. : )

whatever. you were the one bitching that we only get 300 inches annually.

dude, tourists dont care. they hear about colorado. they hear the word colorado and already associate it with skiing. they dont know any better. they go because they're friends went or because they own a time share or have been before. they could careless about the quality of snow in utah, jackson, montana, hood. any of those places. plus colorado is a lot closer. sucks being on the front range eh?

If your whining about keystone, disappear into the Outback, very few tourists in there, or just hit A-basin on Palli-chair. Park wise, Breks Freeway seems to have very few tourists in it. Eally if you don't want to deal with tourist you can find areas where they ain't

I here ya but sometimes its fun to go to places that you havent been in awhile and if ur a poor 16 year old an cant afford the drive u cant really help but go the closest place...and u have a good point, but keystones outback is tricky cuz the exit is really really bad weve tried it.

Snowboarding bites dinkus

^i think mozart to get to the wayback lift to then get to the outback is more dangerous. a friend and i were going to jump this cliff and some guys goes flying through.sure he may have been a texan but who cares. its mainly people who dont pay enoough attention. i dont live in colorado but i go out thee on spring break. tourism fuels the ski industry. if you dont want people who dont know how to ski, go to A- BASIN

In the words of AC/DC: We roll tonight... to the guitar bite... and for those about to rock... I salute you.

I don't understnad what you mean by the exit is dangerous? If you mean flat I understand. But yeah, its all good I go to Keystone al lot and just get on with it.

The exit funnels into a very narrow, bumped up path. The outback isnt really worth it anyway, almost no vert, and a lot of hiking.

alot of us wouldn't have jobs and be able to do what we do in the winter if it wasn't for all the tourists. No matter where they are from. I worked at vail all winter so we saw it all its the same at every resort and always will be. people not skiing up to the abilty or trying to ski stuff they shouldn't be on. but thats just how it is and always will be. And the whole park thing is I just think these people are curios about whats going on so they have to try it for themself. which means they might be in the way. Everyone should just calm down and be cool about who cares if you have to wait another 30 secs to hit that jump or rail or drop in to the pipe. alot better then landing on someone and hurting them or even worse killing them.

actualy I would prefer to land on some texans ever so soft fat ass.

You can say anything you want if you don't mean it.

Bud, we know there are a lot of dumbass tourons but think about it... tourists are at least half of the income of the mountain. Yea i hate it when those little f)#(*$ stand right on top of the table but w/o the tourists the table wouldnt exist.

its simple enough to put up with them. Equipment and all the gear is also majorly supported by tourists etc just dumping a few bills on a new setup just for a week of skiing. Out if the 130+ days I got last season, only three times were tourists/gapers really a problem.
