Into the Wild

i read the book. Inspirational twist, but when you just look at the facts, i dont understand why this guy is regarded as a hero. I mean, he was just a rich kid from the east that had cool ideals. He moved out to alaska and died a little over 100 days later. He didn't make it.

I just watched this movie, and I thought it was quite good. Didn't read the book, but the guy is not regarded as a hero, just a man looking for himself and his happiness. The lesson at the end is that he realizes happiness needs to be shared, and eventually he does not make it back.

Good, relaxing movie though, I'd recommend watching it.

I agree completely, he tried to take on the Alaskan wilderness w/o survival training. The locals thought he was a dumbass. But it would be cool to move off the map, at least for a little bit, so for that i give him credit.

another book I'd reccomend is "one man's wilderness" cool sotry about a guy that built a small cabin with his own hands up in alaska and lived thre 'till he was like 90. very inspirational and satisfying.

while he didn't succeed, it is still a really romantic idea to just

drop all of one's luxuries and trek out into the countryside to survive

in nature one on one.

the guys that drops him off at teh beginning of the movie was my friends dad. and he played as himself..or so it says in the credits

I thought it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The acting was fantastic and it was put together extremely well. I went into the theater thinking that the guy was a dumbass and deserved to die, but left it with a new respect for what he was trying to do. I still think he was really stupid about it, but the movie was inspirational to me.
