Interview with Chris Laker, his new 2009-10 promo edit inside

Stuff like this is only going to help him though. He's made big moves in the past couple years, getting on Elan and Dalbello's pro teams, good showings at contests, SuperUnknown finalist twice. It'll happen for him. He'll snag a podium at a major contest soon and people will really start to notice. Pumped he got an interview like this though, couldn't happen to a nicer kid.

style comes with time my friend...

he's 17 - look what his skiing looked like when he was 12

and like people have said before, put him on a poppy 80 foot jump at mammoth or breck and you'll notice an immediate difference

A person hasn't even grown into their body at 12. You can't have mature style. And to compare him to when he was 12 is a bit ridiculous

HE SKIS AT MY HOME MOUNTAIN PNS / CLAIM

ZOMGGGGGGZZZZZ

seriously cool dude tho

i see him every time i ski, and i go about 4 times a week

im not saying he had style at 12, all i'm saying is look at his progression in the last 5 years...

style comes with practice and repetition, once he has his tricks dialed a million times things will naturally fall into place

and frankly i think i was physically growing until at least 20 if not 21, so by that same token you could argue he hasn't even grown into his body as of now...

Being from the mid-west he kills jumps which is surprising and his rail game is well unbelievable. Looking forward to seeing more of him.

That edit was painful to watch. The skiing was sick but those stupid fast-forward-slow-motion effects were just so fucking annoying.

down flat down double switch ups. front switch to the flat already. it's pussy to do it on the down. looks awkward as hell!!!!!!!

pretty much the last shot was the only cool one.

I fucking hate 540 switch ups! rage! grrr.

bUt yes, this young chap is clearly very talented, my only concern is what might happen when he runs out of tricks to copy? I'm not too confident about how his style will progress. I hope i'm wrong though cos i'm sure he'll be a big star in our community regardless.

definitely the future bobby brown. Not much of a video segment skier but he definitely has the moves to grab many podiums

Are you serious? which trick in that edit have you not seen someone else do the exact same? the only ones i could see involve a fuckload of spinning in pencil like fashion off or above a rail, and well i really hope thats not what this dude makes his trademark style.

you can indeed. i just chose to say it about this one cos i'm worried about the truth in that comment about "future bobby brown" i'm sure i'm not alone in hoping he is more a future hornbeck perhaps. not many other skiers have the technical skill and promise that mr laker shows.

One of the plusses of getting to ski with him nearly every day is that I've noticed how quickly he's able to learn things or pick things up. I think he has a unique blend of styles at the moment, a mix of a Bobby Brown or a Russ Henshaw with a bit of the really good rail guys too, but I think it's also something he's still figuring out. I've said this before, and it's a bit less relevant this year, but 2 seasons ago he went from being 5 foot to 6 foot seemingly overnight and it was pretty obvious he didn't know how to make his new bigger body stylish yet. This season his style definitely progressed more, and I'm really looking forward to what he's able to do this year. I wouldn't write him off yet, he's still growing and evolving as a skier.

i wouldn't write off any skier when they're only 17...

look at

wallisch - he didn't get even remotely close to his current level until like 20/21

parker white - is 19, people are just starting to realize his talent and style

could go on for days with this

sure kids are getting younger and younger throwing crazy tricks but the style factor is definitely towards the older end of the spectrum...

i cant really think of a single skier under 18 right now that kids are obsessing over for their style...

hahaha just think about what you said for a minute. you're worried about what's going to happen if he runs out of tricks to copy... yeah because you can NEVER do a trick and add that extra 180, flip or grab into it to make it different. you're acting as if skiing has done all tricks possible, all combos possible and once laker does all of them, he's going to stop progressing. again, most fucktarded thing i've read on this site.
