Internet Service Providers in California? (LA)

So I'm going to be moving to LA in about 4 months and am looking to set up an internet connection for when I arrive. I haven't had much luck with Google search.

Right now I live in Canada so I really don't know anything about American ISPs. My question is:

What service providers are there and how much does it cost on average?

Right now I pay the equivalent of about $60(USD) for a 60GB dl cap and 10mbs dl speed. Is that comparable to the US?

I am not sure if this is nationwide, but I know that here on the EC, we pay $100/month for Road Runner internet, digital cable and phone. I am not sure on the numbers, but I download music and play PC/360 games online at the same time and have no problems. Plus, there is 2 desktops and 2 laptops on it all the time.
