Intermediate digital camera? lens?

I searchbar'd this and didn't get what i was looking for.

I'm looking for a intermediate camera, digital and somethinging i can change lenses in / play around with and have room to grow.

people always ask how much, it doesn't really matter but= 500? to much for that price??

can you guys throw out some options?? thanks

oh i will be shooting jet ski freestyle, wakeskating and car action shots (rally) and of course, still shots. I'm just kinda lost looking at all these options so if you could point me in a direction i'd be stoked. thx for your time
 
xti is a great intermediate camera although you will need at spend between 7-8 to get it and more for good glass, but its deff an amazing camera, no doubt it will meet your needs and more.
 
Damn thats a good price. I got an xti with the kit lens (18-55) and another 70-300 lens (not great quality lens but its all i need at least for right now) for 700 and i even got a free photo printer after rebate. If you look around you should be able to find a used one in your price range. You could also check deal sites like slickdeals.net for cameras. Ive seen this sony one that would be comparable with a kit lens for $343 or something redic. I went to the stores around me but all sold out or didnt have the deal.
