Attention All Directors, TDs, and DCLs,

Pipe & Park riding has obviously become a very big part of the resort, skiing, and riding experience. The tremendous interest by the public in P&P riding brings new challenges to our organization as we need to be able to serve our guests and provide learning pathways for those yearning to jump, spin, slide, boost, and jib.

Are you familiar with the Pipe & Park educational material from PSIA National that's now hitting the scene? Do you have familiarity with the Smart Style code, how to introduce your guests to the Terrain Park, and provide them a safe learning environment? Do you know how to assess a rider's movements with respect to riding jumps, rails, and pipes and helping them achieve desired outcomes and meet their goals? Do you need coaching on your own jib skills and developing a safe progression for your own skill development?

The PSIA-NW Intro to Pipe & Park clinic will be hosted at Stevens Pass on Jan 21-22 and these are some of the topics and training that will be covered. Snowboard and Alpine specific groups will be formed (Alpine will be limited to 2 groups – don’t be left out). All skill abilities and certification levels are invited.

Please tell your peers and staff members about this opportunity. I've been hearing for a couple of years the interest in P&P curriculum and training - well it's here so walk the talk and come to this 2 day event where you can gain and share plenty of jib knowledge to take back to your school and guests.

Quite the opposite I'd say. Newcomers to the park will have some idea of what they're doing if the coaching is good. Specifically if they tell people where not to wait, not to wreck the lips etc. You need to realise that skiing is going the same way as snowboarding. There will be more and more pople in the parks over the next 10 years, so we might as well try to educate people.

Considering the PSIA's current way of teaching people how to ski sucks, they'll have a hell of a time teaching people how to do tricks. Remember bend zee knees!

i think its good, ive wanted instructurs to teach tricks but they havent known how. maybe itll bring to som more people's attention that skiers can and want to throw down

i think it would be tight to be an instuctor teaching people how to do the park. it would be hard though, because so much of doing shit is just nutting up. how are you going to teach that?

theres this person hunter...my friend's mom..but she knows exactly how 2 throw ervy trick she can't do them but shes can tell you exactly how to do the rotation and she's a huge help

i dont think the instructors will be teaching people how to do tricks, instead they will probably explain the different parts of a jump and where to wait where not to turn, and other safety stuff. Hopefully they are just trying to educate people on how to not be total gapers
