Interesting question that i thought of today

So say someone in your family died in a war. Would you say that he was murdered. I think that peoples first thought is no.

He died serving his country.

But this is something interesting to think about and comes from one of the men profiled in "Generation Kill"

"Dawg, for what we are doing over here we are called heroes. We do this back home, as civilians, they would lock us up as murderers."

That being said, I fully and wholeheartedly support the troops. If you just lost a loved one that is a member of the military, I wish the best to you and your family.

I just read the book, and read "One Bullet Away" which is the memoir written by one of the officers. Really demonstrates what the guys in the current wars are going through.

One thing i was wondering about on veterans day is, if someone is goes off to war and dies, are they a war veteran, or just killed in combat? As in, do you have to survive to be a veteran? It seems like it's more of a term for the living, and then memorial day remembers those who died. accurate-ish?

My interesting question for today: Why does Mr.Panda feel its necessary to post ALL THE DAMN TIME? Most of his posts seem whiny too. Does he ever go outside? Does he have real life friends? Sorry, that's 3 questions.

considering his post was relevant, topical, and informative, he has more reason to be posting in this thread than you, so please GTFO.

What do professional soldiers do when they retire? I feel like their skill-set is very specific and does not really cross-over to any other form of employment...

Just to piss lindsayjibber off I am not going to PM you the answer to this.

My dad went to Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in upstate New York and then served 3 years in the Navy and 2 tours in Vietnam before the Marines were sent there. After he got out, he went to work on merchant ships around the world for the next 35 years. Retired at the age of 60 after becoming a Captain of the LNG Capricorn.

The ship he was the captain on^^^^^^

Also, there are many more jobs in the military outside of the standard infantry rifleman. My friend in the Air Force is a mechanic, and will most likely be working as an aerospace mechanic at SeaTac or something once he gets out. Another friend is in Marine intelligence and he could go FBI, CIA, or possibly be a regular detective.

The standard infantry grunts also get MANY other skill outside of being able to carry a bunch of gear and shoot a gun. Many members of the infantry go back to college after serving on the GI Bill and work as men in the standard industry jobs as foreman and other things.

why dont you go save some fuckin whales, or eat a burger and get some fucking pigment back in your skin, you skinny ass little shithead. nobody fuckin wants you here. I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON A FUCKING CARROT.

anywho, a soldier takes orders. if he kills without being ordered too, thats murder. also if he eats a steak in the field.

Oh don't even get me started on you, holy shit. You've been on here, what, 3 1/2 months and you already have over 2k posts? You are the most useless member to date. Your icon is fucking ridiculous. You're a joke. Worse than me and my beliefs.

No dude... just no. Please... just stop.

As for the original question: Although he may whore the forums, his posts actually contribute most of the time.

wow, look in the mirror and judge yourself for a change. i love her icon, way more interesting and deep than some stupid fuckin heart. go back to your hello kitty and playing with barbies till you fuckin grow up.

when i saw this post, no joke, i facepalmed.
what is this supposed to mean? dont even get you started? on what? the only posts i've ever seen you make are completely irrelevant or are hating on panda.

you can say anything contributes, that just means it takes up space. you guys need to put some quality behind the content. at least my shit has a positive message about living life

if one of our soldiers kills an opposing infidel, is it considered murder? no, they are just taking order from their superiors. the same is true if the roles are switched. it comes with the territory of being in the services. i've gone back and forth with the idea of going rotc. i love my country, but i think there are many other ways to better our society. however, when i graduate, if i do go rotc, the service will provide an immediate job and a possible career. and like someone stated, no everyone in the service is a gun/gear carrying grunt. there are many other jobs in order to keep the operations running smoothly.

The OP was about what makes a soldier a veteran though.

noun

1. a person who has had long service or experience in an occupation, office, or the like: a veteran of the police force; a veteran of many sports competitions.

2. a person who has served in a military force, esp. one who has fought in a war: a Vietnam veteran.

–adjective

3. (of soldiers) having had service or experience in warfare: veteran troops.

4. experienced through long service or practice; having served for a long period: a veteran member of Congress.

5. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of veterans.

unless you have the most quality 221 posts to date, i dont think you've helped this site anymore than anyone eles.

No... actually no. His posts definitely hold worth most of the time. At least much more worth than "yanowhatimean." And I honestly have no idea what you are talking about when you say, "at least my shit has a positive message about living life." Maybe that's because I can't recall any valuable posts from you. Look at it this way: would you rather have one more crazy little 14 year old troll, or a post whore like Panda who actually contributes quality posts most of the time?

in your opinion

in my most humble opinion you are an attention craving bored girl who knows wholly well that ns is an intolerant and un-politically correct website so you feel the need to post radically contradicting things to the ways of the site and its members just so that people notice you and respond. you don't care if it's all hate, you're just getting the attention you need

Want someone like the original daringharry? Or someone who is a postwhore like me that every once in awhile has decent contributions to threads.

Let me break it down for you. Here we go:

Sentence 1. Maybe that's because I can't recall any valuable posts from you.

Sentence one means that I cannot remember any posts by lindsayjibber that 'contributed' to the site.

Sentence 2. Look

at it this way: would you rather have one more crazy little 14 year old

troll, or a post whore like Panda who actually contributes quality

posts most of the time?

Sentence two is a question. It is asking lindsayjibber if she would rather have more little trolls or have Mr.Panda who posts a lot but typically has good posts.

I really can't make it any more simple. Sorry if you don't understand.

And Mr. Panda:

I was referring to the original post that that kid quoted. The one where lindsayjibber was asking why you post so much. I know what a soldier and veteran is. Thanks.
