rifels and assault rifels are different. assault rifels arnt in that spreadsheets catagory under 'rifels' they are under 'other guns'. what we need is that spreadsheet for a year of assault rifels being legal to compair statistics like what you want to do. my argument and conclution still stands

But the point is the guns were already legal Ive said it a 1000 times it was manufacture/import ban, the same guns you can buy today you could have bought for the last ten years.

let me clearify (mabey)

first of all you should have specified that you were talking about assault rifels. second of all, those statistics are for huinting rifels, assault rifels show up in that spreadsheet under 'other guns' catagory. third of all, you cant say that those statistics show that assault rifels arnt that harmfull in terms of this ban being lifted because now that it is lifted it is alot easyer to get one. You could do what you were trying to do if you had statistics from murders from a year from now on how many people were killed from assault rifels but you cant when the info you have is from a year when the situation was different in that assault rifels were alot less common. on top of that, say, hypothetically, that you did get info from a year from now and only say 200 people were killed from assault rifels, but there were 200 more people killed that year then the prevous year, you can conclude that the ban would have prevented some of those deaths.

Well these statistics take a few years to catch up so we wont see this years statistics for another year or two. But my point is I could have bought an uzi last year just as easy as I could buy one today thats all. People who are going around shooting each other with machine guns most likely arnt purchasing them legally.

Criteria for Class 3 license

-no violent misdeamnors

-no felonies

-Can never have pleaded insanity to a court case

-No one can have restraining order on you

-cannot have been dishonorably discharged from police or military duty

-Sheriff of the county you live in needs to write a letter of recommendation

-can not have drug or alcohol problems or charges

-The FBI checks your criminal record every 24 hours once you have a class 3 license or Concealed weapons permit

-You need to pay a tax on every gun you own 300$ a pop or so as well as renew your class 3 license every few years at the cost of a few hundred

-You need to be digitally fingerprinted

-You need to pay for a criminal backround check

-You need to submit two passport quality photos

-You must live in a state that allows those weapons

-You must be 21 or older

-You must be a legal citizen native born in America

Do you think your average jackass criminal can pass all those criteria? Doubtful. Getting a letter of recommendation from your local sheriff. I'm sure he would write one for anyone who ask's to own machineguns in his town. The sad fact is the people who are obtaining these guns illegally are the ones that are the problem not the redneck who likes to blast trees in his backyard like me.

Name me how many times in the last ten years some 'Serial killer' a.k.a crazy asshole killed a lot of people with a machine gun? I think homemade bombs are 100x the threat as a fully automatic weapon is.

You can be 18 and pass a simple background check to get a semi-auto assualt rifle. Its the same as a rifle. Also, im assuming most serial killers that use firearms, use handguns. Living in a free society comes with its down fall, if a person has a clean record, but wants to go kill people he can get a handgun. But if they outlawed handguns, serial killers would probably use something else. Yes there's problems with having legal guns, but their tiny compared to illegal guns. My way of looking at is, guns are fun, people that kill people aren't so much. My views are most likely just a product of my location(no real gun violence, lots of guns). Maybe if i grew up in a place where there were plenty of people getting killed and nobody was really stoked on guns anyway, i would be siding with the anti-gun types. I pretty much comes down to: guns aren't going to be banned, handguns are probably never going to be banned, and assualt rifles aren't really any different then other semi rifles, and serial killers probably don't have the urge to go through all the fucking hassle to get a class 3 liscense

and the ban being lifted doesn't mean its easier for people to get assualt weapons. just because they couldn't be imported or manufactured didn't mean there was a shortage.

It funny, I bet most of the people arguing against assault rifles had never been into a gun store before the ban expired. If you would ever have you would've immediatly noticed assault rifles on the gun rack. You might've have also noticed assault rifles aren't cheap, an AR-15 carbine costs over $1500, they'll still be expensive without a manufacture/import ban.

I hate the argument 'If someone wants to kill someone real bad it doesnt matter if their is a law' It just is silly because it may be true sometimes but a lot of the times those deaths could be stoped. I think since if someone wanted, they could get a rocket launcher underground, then we should legalize them too. Really, as long as you're a law-abiding, honest citizen, there is nothing wrong with having a rocket launcher in your closet. Hell, everyone should have a tank in their garage, because it's fun to drive tanks around and shoot paper targets with them. Guns for sport are ok, but the firing ranges should own the guns, not the people. You go to the range to shoot and get your gun there. Guns, other than rifles for hunting, should not be in the home.

The fact is I own a few guns. I am responsible and I can handle it. I know not everyone can. What is wrong with me having a few guns? I'm not gonna kill any innocent people. Every now and then I like going down to the range and blasting shit it's very relaxing. A irresponsible person with a gun is no more dangerous than an irresponsible person with a car. Guns have been demonized is if once you get one in your hands you just cant control it. It's a fucking piece of metal, use your head and they arnt dangerous at all.
