*showed up late
*did heavy drugs in the back room
*started rambling about all different shit
*tried to play guitar and just had no idea what he was doing
*was on stage for 30 minutes and then stage hands had to come out and take him off stage because he was such a mess
so i guess even if hes considered a good rapper in some peoples books, hes just making a mockery of rap
 
Its so funny how there are so many threads about this exact same topic, but whats even funnier is that the people who are making these theads are just hatin on the same songs over and over and over. sure lil wayne has some bad songs but he also has many many good ones. as does almost every artist whether it be rap, rock, country, metal, what ever genre.

you cant just hear 1 or 2 songs from an artist and say you dont like them. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DONT EVEN LISTEN TO THAT CERTAIN GENRE OF MUSIC. how can u say you like a hip hop or rock artist when you dont even listen to hip hop or rock. and how can you say most of his shit is rapping about nothing, i can say that there is alot of random shit in his lyrics but lil wayne has the tendency to hide what he is saying behind these catchy words and phrases.

i think he means about eminem being the most influential rapist of all time, he was influential, and so nasty but of all time? i think thats pushing it. i mean of course what comes to mind is biggy and tupac but even like sugarhill gang was super influential to what rap is today

i used to hate on lil wayne real hard just cause he was mainstream and most of the songs i heard sucked but he does throw a few good one liners in there like in "leather so soft" at the begining he says something kinda meaningful about groupies and shit and his most of his beats r sick....but really id rather liken to cage, aesop, kweli, tech who all come with a more intellectual and less marketed driven original style all the time..
 
I find this thread hilarious. Can't everyone just realize that some songs are meaningful to some people and not to others? Just cause this one dude doesn't think rap is meaningful doesn't mean he is an idiot, it just means he disagrees with you, big deal.

Also, for the kids saying you just don't get it because you are a rich kid, please explain to me why you would understand little wayne or any rapper for that matter more than anyone else? How can you relate to a guy from the hood who lived a harder life than you can imagine?

The bottom line is some songs give some people the chills cause they have meaning to them and some songs don't. Just cause you disagree on what gives you the chills doesn't make someone right or wrong. If you are a hard corer gangsta and songs about drugs, bitches, and hoes and this is what turns you on cool (we all know this is the average person on NS). If not thats fine too, maybe you like love songs cause you just fell in love or whatever. Either way, get over yourself and realize people have different tastes.

Saying that Li'l Wayne is a talented lyricist is like saying an autistic kid is a skilled conversationalist. He's one of the better mainstream rappers, which deserves another clever analogy but I'm too lazy to think of one, so we'll cut to the chase - that doesn't mean shit. I like some of his production, but the music as a whole is so overrated it's disgusting.

I listen to more underground than you can even think of, and i still like the game. shit is fuckin gangster. thats the thing about mainstream compared to underground, underground is rarely gangster at all, The game, young jeezy etc, IS gangster.
