Instead of weed. We should worry about

listen to the carter 2 in a smoke boxed car and come back on the wayne train before you embarass yourself with such foolish statements as said above^

Lyrically, Lil' Wayne is better than just about every other new rapper out there. He might have some annoying shit playing on the radio, but he is definitely respectable. He's holding down the rap/hip hop scene, while 85% of new rap is ghostwritten, computer generated, meaningless bullshit that isn't going to be remembered. Honestly, why complain about a good rapper, who can freestyle and rap faster than you could imagine, while stupid fuckers like Jesse McCartney are producing hip-hop songs. Do you know what Jesse McCartney says in one of his lines? He fucking says 'walk it out.' Jesse McCartney is a 14 year old white kid that played a surfer on the hit faggy drama Summerland, and you're here complaining about Lil Wayne? Go fucking complain about someone like Plies or someone who can't rap for shit, or even speak english for that matter.

you have no idea what your talking about, lyrically lil wayne is brutal, granted hes not half as bad as half the mainstream rappers out there, but seirously, rap is supposed to be poetic and his lines just rhyme and are all over the place. and talk about computere generated sound, his new CD had a bunch of songs using voicebox or wahtever that shit is that t-pain uses. meaningless, lil waynes lyrics have no story behind most of them. i agree that lil wayne is not of of the biggest worries, but he isnt the god that you speak of.

oh yeah and jesse mccartneys 21 and is it that a white person isnt allowed to say walk it out? that sounds racist to me

lil wayne is good for mainstream. however if you want some truly good shit check out del the funky homosapian, blue scholars, aesop rock, common market, brother ali.... tons of stuff

rap is the worst category of music ever. when i listen to music i like it to mean something. when i listen to rap i don't hear any meaningfull lyrics or lyrics i can relate to. music is about passion. the kind of music i like is passionate. bands i like sing about their life experiences. good bands sing from their souls about their life experiences. i hate rap mostly because it has no lyrical meaning. i like music that i can turn on and learn from

if you think all rap is that way than you are unfortunately, an ignorant fucking fool. im guessing you like rock correct? well the same issues plague rock. turn on any "alternative" station all you hear is meaningless bullshit. but underground there is great rock and the same is the same is true for rap

thats from listening to shit like 50 cent and lil wayne (or any mainstream rapper), listent to smaller rappers and you well hear more passion. that being said i dont really like rap or hip hop because it just isint really the kind of music i like.

wow the ignorance is killing me. You know theres more to rap than 50 Cent and Lil Wayne right?

I could make all the same arguments about rock, but i wont because i respect other peoples music choices, even if i dont understand them. -karma

dude i know more than 50 cent and all that shit. i have listened to all that underground shit. i am not saying that rock is great either. in my opinion most music out there has no passion. its all about the money for most artist. there are few artist that are passionate and lyrically genious

ya youre right you have a right to an opinion.

but you said rap has no lyrical meaning, thats a fairly harsh generalizing statement dont you think? i agree with you about the lack of passion/all about the money in most modern mainstream rap but you cant shut it down as entire genre like that

okay so do you listen to one album your whole life, like seriously i understand what your saying but your just not thinking with an open mind

this defines wrong.

Lyrically lil wayne is horrible. Considering his lyrics have no depth past Bitches and Money. not to mention he STEALS lyrics from some rappers you might recognize like Tupac Biggie Jay Z.

What would you call Lollipop?

i would say that was pretty "meaningless bullshit"

or I make it rain? is that really what you call "Respectable" meaningfull rap?

And now for some lyrics.

She She lick me

Like a lollipop (Yeah)

She She lick me

Like a lollipop (Yeah)

She She lick

Like a lollipop (Yeah)

She She lick

Me Like a lollipop

Shawty wanna thug

Bottles in the club

Shawty wanna hump

You know I like to touch

Ya lovely lady lumps

wow. just read that and try to say its actual RAP music.

or even music in general.

i know im kinda of ranting just cause our mainstream industry is shit and very little good music has been produced recently. i enjoy many types of music as long as i feel the passion and can relate to the lyrics. im just saying that i have never felt neither when i listen to rap. i think i put that into better wording that is what i meant in the first place

no i agree the mainstream is bunk as shit, but if you listen to some old atmosphere you can hear him getting into the song, the song that i think of most is trying to find a balance by atmosphere but i think your just listening to the wrong shit

1. fuck all you kids who say wayne sucks

2. fuck all you kids who are on the "OMG I LISTEN TO UNDERGROUND HIP HOPS IM SO CUTTING EDGE LOLZ" bandwagon.

there is no such thing as underground, either a group is popular to the masses or it isnt, period. Now that doesnt mean that their music is good or bad, hell, milli vanilli won a grammy.

what im trying to say is that first, wayne is sick, i dont feel like arguing because you wont change my mind, and second, just because a group is "underground" doesnt make them more skilled or better than a mainstream artist.

listen to get over by wanye if you want some meaningful lyrics...it gives me goosebumps

EMPIRE MIXTAPES, NOT FOR THE WEAKHEARTED!

HOLY SHIT! WHERE'D YOU FIND THIS?

I'm cold like a midnight in aspen, I am the president and the assassin. Cameras on, big lights, flashin. Welcome to the show I am the main, attraction.

HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS?

You probably can't relate to it cause your a spoiled rich kid who grew up in the suburbs, your father is a racist and you've never actually talked to a black person before.

I know this is overplayed and i find it an annoying song now, but dance with the devil by immortal technique is probably the most meaningful song i've ever heard. all of immortal's shit is meaningful so you cant tell me rap is not meaningful, that is the most ignorant shit ive ever heard.

not to be that kid that doesnt listen to music because its mainstream, but mainstream rappers are different than "underground" the mainstream ones (im gonna say that "mainstream" are rappers that are signed by large record companies. The large record companies will force artists to rap about things and shit like that to sell more records, just feel like the "underground" artists who arent forced to rap about some things have more passion and are less in it for the money, even lil wayne does this, he was solid and then the carter III he uses the thing taht t-pain uses which is weak shit and lollipop is brutal, yet its still played the most

yeah you totally nailed it my dad is in the kkk and i hate black people and i have never talked to one cause it is forbidden in my house.

they are still fun to listen to, i listen to a lot of underground shit too if you want me to be serious here and claim that.

yeah take one listen to great rap and tell me it doesnt do anything for you. and just to let you know pink floyd sucks bob sagets dick

yeah you might hate there music. if you listen to dark side of the moon lyrics you can relate to all of it. they talk about things we have all pondered and experienced. a lot of bands sing about experiences but pink floyd is lyrically genious. i don't care if you hate them because we all have different taste. you can't deny the message behind there songs you can feel the passion and emotion in the time solo. pink floyd isn't out there for the money. they sing to educate and inform us on the lessons they have learned such as: the importance of time and its relativity, how war is pointless, history repeats itself, money rules all, depression, lunacy, and the daily routine of life.

lil wayne has good presentation but lacks in his lyrics.
i like a few songs but i cannot sit and listen to more than a few because he always rhymes the same word together and never goes anywhere in his raps (by this i mean each line is pretty much the same just rephrased. and of course there are exceptions but in general this is true)

Not to mention he admittedly is heavily influenced by andre 3000

watch this vid and see who does a better job

pft it doesnt matter how good any given rapper is at putting together lyrics, its still a shithouse song thats a complete chore to listen to with $5 casio synth sounds and shitty half assed beats driving the song along.

as for songs you can relate to,

bam:

I hate any rap. Not for anything like the lyrics, i just hate the way it sounds, it sounds shit, thats why i gave up listening to alot of skiing edits now, because its all crap rap music in them, and it sucks.

my point is i am open to any good music. maybe suggest some good rap and i will like it. but all the rap i have heard which is alot has never been that talented

oh I'm sorry lil wayne isn't the US poet laureate. he made a catchy song about things many people can relate to, partying, drinking, and gettin dome. does this really need any debate?

my impression of underground rap is that no matter how clever it is, its hardly ever as catchy, it's never as funny as lil wayne is, and its used as a banner for pretentious pricks who don't realize its hardly "underground" at all considering it has widespread appeal to a bunch of white high schoolers who take special attention to remember the names that are cool to claim that they like.

just my impression though. I know there is good underground rap, but I don't fucking care. I like cheesy rap.

haha i don't think you read the post i quoted. everyones been calling lil wayne a lyrical genius, and his lyrics will give you a boner there so hot and deep.

"I know there is good underground rap, but I don't fucking care. I like cheesy rap."

My point and case. Lil wayne is cheesy rap, a joke, mtv status. And it shows how wayne fans are just too arrogant to listen to other shit.
