Insane Rail at Redbull Crystal Competition @ Tremblant

When I heard it wasn't for skiers I wasn't going to go

But then I saw them building that rail last weekend

im thinking someone is gonna spin onto this thing, set the bar way up. and after that people are gonna get WRECKED tryin to raise the bar even higher....
 
That is easily the craziest setup I have ever seen. That rail has so much potential for someone to get really fucked up.
 
i would say that the gap on is big enough that you would have to be going pretty fast to hit it. so even if you come off early your still likely going to land on the landing, and therefor it wont be THAT much different then a lot of the bigger jumps. but if you hang yourself up on the front, or catch a mad edge, your screwed.

yes, you can hurt yourself. but you can hurt yourself on anything.
 
man I was at tremblatn alst week and they were just starting to set this up and my and bro looked at it and agreed it was stupidly big, but I definitely want to see how it turns out. the comp used to be called cote d'obscur btw

i was hoping that shit like this wasnt going to invade my winter sport. the skectch factor here has almost reached freeride biking levels.
 
HOLY....!! thats fucking insane! i wish i was there! cant wait to see the footage! i heard the one at loon last year was as big but had a mini bus underneath... ne ways.. im looking forward to seeing footage from this..
 
whats crazy is that there are people on this site that could 270 on switchup 270 a rail like that with no problem. And it would be the same thing, except for the height, and I guess landing.
 
im sure alot of us could do that rail.. i mean.. the hardest part is probably not being scared.. i think any of us could do that rail the same ga on and leghtn and all but jsut a lwoer rail.. its sjut the height thats fucked up..
 
Its a marketing ploy. I know I would have to drink so much redbull to consider hitting that, and redbull is just playing it to their advantage... so sneaky
 
i laughed when i saw this set-up, but when i realised its for real i get scared. Someone is gonna mess up his body or die on this one.... This is the craziest thing ive ever seen
 
I watched it for like 30 mins last night and only one guy I saw hit the rail. he just 50-50'd it, but it was still impressive as fuck.

It was basically like a rail slide to cliff drop, cause he was dropping like 30 feet after the rail. it was pretty sick.
 
now that the comp is over.. does ne one have picts or vids? i heard only one perosn his the rail? sucksss
 
Wow,, ive been saying that skiing is getting so hardcore lately its like a videogame.. Id hit that and be like X X X X Y Y Y O O O O L1 L2,, that would be like the dopest combo ever,, so many points

the riding in that video was horrible. but it WAS pretty redbull.

and i like powder, i don;t think you'd have enough time to get the full 270 degree rotation out of the rail.
 
I was on the lift admiring this monstrous setup at Tremblant when I saw someone completely fuck themselves up on it. A boarder was doing a speedcheck run and tried to stop on the jump but caaught his front edge and fell off the front of the platform (40ft?)...everyone ran over to see what happened and the guy wasn't moving, hope he was ok.

That said, somebody has to post the other rail they had for this comp. It was a rail imbedded in a Red Bull "CRYSTAL" ice sculpture. Sickest thing ever.
