Inline skaters have more skill than skiers

Wow ok, your not trying to become our friends, and now hes hating on snowboarders, have you realized most of the skiing community hangs out and skis with snowboarders???

comparing blading styleto skiing is rediculous. So they don't keep their arms pinned to their sides while doing tricks like skiers? That would look rediculous. Skateboarders also don't keep their arms at their sides while trying to move as little as possible, but nobody says their "flapping like toucan sam".

They're different that's all.

anyone that thinks skiing is comparable to inline or for that matter, inline is harder/better/more skill involved, is fucking retarded. People, your backyard rail set ups which you are so vigorously trying to learn those pretzel combinations IS NOT SKIING!!!!!! Well, its barely skiing. Ive seen alot of these "where skiing is going threads" and if rails are what u little kids want skiing to become thats sad. I ski at pc and the tricks that can go down with everyone feeding off each are amazing, but when a storm rolls through going to the rock gardens at brighton, of like yesterday, 18 inches of fresh at alta, puts it all in perspective. this may seem unfair to people who live far from pow, mountains, etc, but i dont care! u east coasters may ruin skiing with this rail mentality. skiing=mountains, not terrain parks. for perspective, im originally from the midwest and skiing urbans and shitty park is all i had, except for the once a year ski trip.

alright i'll try and make this a hate free post...

first of all... the only similarity between skiing and rollerblading is that you are strapped into two independently mobile boots. thats where the similarities end. sure you can do some of the same spins and flips and stuff but rail tricks are completely different, mainly because rollerblades have a "grind plate" that allows you to lock into a rail, skis are flat and its way harder to balance on rails on skis.

second, skiing is so much more than hitting park jumps and sliding rails... how about epic pow days and BC lines and cliff drops.

third, i agree that skiing looks way smoother and more stylish, not to mention more technically difficult to learn. like all those balet grind tricks... even those skiers trying to do that sort of shit on skis... it all looks retarded. i'd much rather see a pretzel on skis than any of the stuff in those videos.

fourth, grabs. do i have to say any more? grabs on skis look fucking sick especially blunts, tip grabs, octo grabs, double grabs, etc. and grabs on rollerblades are well... boot grabs.

fifth, how come no one has brought up skateboarding in this thread yet. you want to talk about style and technical tricks skateboarding makes rollerblading look extremely gay. for the simple fact that you are riding a board that isn't attached to your feet in any way and you can do all sorts of crazy flip tricks. skateboarding is on a whole other technical level compared to all other "extreme" sports.

sixth, amplitude. skiers hit waaaaay bigger jumps, go higher in the halfpipe, and you're talking about switch 630s onto rails... did everyone forget about candides cork 810 to rail? lets see a rollerblader try that.

now if you want to rollerblade and think it helps your skiing then by all means have fun. just don't try and come on to ns and argue that its better than skiing. thats complete crap. personally my respect for extreme sports goes in the following ranking:

1. skateboarding

2. skiing

3. snowboarding

4. surfing

5. bmx

6. mountain biking

7. wakeboarding

8. sky diving/ base jumping

9. mountaineering/ rock climbing

10. rollerblading

11. scootering

would you care to say why? i mean i agree with two out of three and i can think of pleanty of reasons. but until bumming men becomes a sport i don't think anysports will be entirly homo.

um yeah, they do tricks sorta like what skiiers do but the do them on the same sort of stuff skateboarders use. i.e, have you seen rock adio? you know the kf melon over the barrier thats like the best trick in the film? bladers have done mistys over that barier. i don't know what you mean.

see steve fruitbooters are so dumb they cant even figure out the white balance ! granted i watched the first 30 secs before realizing im not gay as aids

this is almost as worthless as the 2008 election.

i've seen down syndrome children have more intelligent discussions.

people have their own opinions.

my suggestion: don't say anything is better than anything else or you will get ripped a new one.

everything is cool in its own way, has its own type of steeze, blah bla blah.

oh and the dude that started this is freakin garbage.

now i disagree with the thread creator, but mad props to inline skaters, goin big on concrete and stuff

theres no way u can deny that the 2 sports are on similar, the only differences are

skiing = winter, inline= sumer

skiing - snow , inline - concrete

skiing- long boards inline- skates

grabs and railslides are different too

obvious reasons why theyre similar to me.... feet are separated and indepedent of achother, forward and switch riding, spins, railslides, urban....

oh whats that? you got pwnd so you decided to bust out a joke thats been told a million times already?

good effort!

then get off ns and go to tgr forums, if you are against park skiing

sure, we all like paowder and sick terrain, but does that happen everyday? do we all ive in co, utah, pnw, or anywhere lese that gets more than 200 or 300 inches per year?

no.

oh yeah i forgot to put in this quote. hear goes;

"dont hate on other people threads, why would we want negativity on

newschoolers... we are all here because we share a similar love... no

need for us to fuckin hate on eachother"

i thought i clearly stated that im originally from the midwest, and i ski
the most at pc, the only thing i didnt mention is that i like park ALOT and consider it still my best "area" of skiing. so will i get off of ns

no.

ps alta hit like 600 inches awhile ago

skiing is skiing, doesn't matter where you do it or what you do it on, there's no need to narrow it down to one discipline like powder/big mountain that's just being closed minded for no reason. Back east I used to ski down grass and leafs when it rained, and hell yea I called it skiing.

in addition im still the last one to post in the spinning both ways thread. me talking about how spinning both ways is necessary...hmmm, sounds like a true tgr freeheeling, hippy, powder hound to me

"Some pro inliners skied for a week and were doin cab 7s and 9s over 60ft+ tables."

Pics or it didnt happen

You really cannot compare inline to skiing, its pretty much impossible to spin as fast as inliners.

i still disagree with the thread ceator, but seriously, chris haffey and brima shima were doing that stuf on their second days skiing

considering how skis r way longer and boots r heavier u can spin faster in inline...also no one gives s hit about inline thats y its not in xgames anymore and its def not steezier and ur just a gay faggot who prob cant ski

to anyone that has raised an argument in this thread i feel sorry for how bored you must be right now.. its obvious that the thread creator is just trying to create controversy (and if you didnt make that connection after seeing his post count then you are stupid), so why are you all arguing with each other??

so please, save yourselves before you make skiers and rollerbladers look like ignorant pieces of shit.

I IMPLORE A MODERATOR TO DELTE THIS THREAD AND PUT AN END TO THE IGNORANCE THAT IS THIS THREAD.

the simple fact is that rollerbladers will never be able to convince non-rollerbladers that inline is cool, stylish, technical, etc. ive been rollerblading and skiing for years and i fail to understand why people need to make such a point to try and prove that inline is so much cooler or harder than other sports. if you like skating then just skate, who cares if people think its cool or not. the styles in both inline and skiing are just different, skiers understand what style is in skiing and rollerbladers understand what style is in rollerblading, there is no need to have one universally accepted style.

its retarded to come onto a skiing site and try to make an argument about how skiing sucks compared to rollerblading. do you really expect people on this site to agree with you? even being a rollerblader myself i find your posts to be extremely ignorant.

man its like saying skateboarding is better than snowboarding because they can do flip tricks. Your argument just doesn't make sense.

always?, maybe to fucktards that are 9 that come on to a ski forum just to be an ass and create a dilemma.

Rollerblading is its own sport separate in every way from skiing. Rollerblading is right in there with figure skating, so next time you come on the internet go post your idiotic ideas somewhere else.

Get out of the park and go SKI!

fucking fruit booters startin shit on a SKIING WEBSITE, take this shit to your own website (if u even have one)

umm has anybody heard off female ski icon KAYA TURSKI.. believe it or not she was a pro aggressive skater before she went pro on the ski scene.. so dont hate on them.. my opinion is that when skiing and skating can be compared skiing wins in the steeze department but bladers technicallity on rails is amazing... nobody can deny that

-karma for your hate. And while I think inline is pretty cool, there is so much more to skiing than just park. I personally ski the rest of the mountain about the same as a I ski the park, and if I lived anywhere where there was some powder, I would only do one park run a day. You can't compare the two sports.

you just make yourself look dumb with comments like that.

and to those arguing about the skiing-blading crosover, I have seen some skiers do some sick stuff after blading less than a week. It's a pretty even crossover.

if you think that rollerblading style sucks maybe you should rollerblade with good style. i think when there is no snow around it is fun to get on a pair of skates and do stuff on concrete that i would've otherwise tried on snow.

Rollerblading has pretty much lost all popularity and commercial viability, so the pros still doing it are a small core group, and so they all have similar style and do similar tricks. It constantly evolves, there's definitely like, pollard style riders in skating, but since even the top rollerbladers get no recognition, the lower people get even less. The other thing is that, taking a sw 7 off a set of 20+ stairs to flat concrete is completely nuts, and it hurts like a bitch even if they land perfectly, so give props where props are due.

My only point is that, you wouldn't look at a skiing slalom race where everyone is in spandex and say "all of skiing is gay." you could say, "This part of skiing isn't for me, i think its ugly and stupid" The same is true for skating, it can be done in a way that is stylish, and people will think that is cool. Other people won't, but I gaurantee you that no rollerblader rollerblades to be cool, they do it even though everyone thinks they are a homo- because that is trivial and people need to grow up, so props to them for not giving a fuck at least.

you are a retard, the guy fucking mistyd off a 20 foot concrete cliff on blades!!! thats some steezy ass shit
