Injuries- the paying for, and reprocussions of

I just had a discussion with my parents about skiing injuries- namely from urban. They expressed a concern about the well being of my teeth and bones, and told me that since i was so confident in what i do, that I should be able to pay for my medical bills, in the case that I get hurt. Out of utter frustration, I turn to you, newschoolers. What is your parents take on the injuries you have or haven't sustained?

my mom is just one of those moms that worries all the time and is always like "dont skii off of any cliffs" (even though i live in ny ahah) or the "don't hit any trees" and when i went to whistler i broke my wrist and had to call my mom to tell her wow she flipped out, and it wasn't even that bad she just gets nervous but when i broke it i missed like 2 months of baseball and i told my parents its still worth it to ski even with injuries and the conesequences and they understand...that sucks there making you pay if you get hurt

Everytime i get injured my grandma and uncle say that I wont be allowed to ski ever again (or at least until im 18) but they dont follow through on it. I now ski so carefully that i dont get injured...not even sore because of my extreme injury 2 seasons ago. It was a shattered heel and ladies/gentlemen, it was not pretty!

when you shattered i sure hope to god that u did what tanner hall did.. AHHH MY ANKLES! MY ANKLES ARE BROKEN! (or in this case it would be your heel) no disrespect to tanner hall or anything but that would def. be a good time to scream like tanner

Even though I only film my parents still think I'm going to get hurt, namely from being in the ghetto at midnight to 3 am. That and them worrying about me getting arrested.

call their bluff, and hope that you're covered under their health insurance. my ACL surgery cost the insurance company damn near 50 grand, so you better hope to fuck you're covered if you really bust yourself up.

i love Medicare. my mom hates it when i injure myself, my dad gets worried, but is easier to deal with

i broke my arm and had surgery on it twice just from casing on a simple 360, at that time i didnt have insurance so we had to pay 50,000 in total, now i have insurance

dude ive broken so many bones, sprained just as many, torn ligaments, had concussions, stitches, and pulled things uncountable times.-not all from skiing

but no i dont pay for it. my parents dont care hah.

well i am 14 (can i even legally buy health insurance?) and they got money so why should they care. plus i play hockey and get hurt a lot, competitively wakeboard, obviously ski, skateboard and skate, play rugby, and i jump on a trampoline for 2 hours a day. why shouldnt i get hurt?? they just support me ha

yeah i know what u mean.. i jump on my trampoline alot, im really surprised i haven't gotten hurt yet (knock on wood)

my parents always freak out about that shit. Two years ago I put a huge gnarly gash in my hand from falling on my ski, and they were like you can't ever ski, adn I had to pay for stiches and crap. last year I broke both my heals at mammoth and they seriously flipped out, it was crazy. But insurance covered it.

that sucks man. how much did it cost????

i cut my face up last year and had to get stitches from falling on ice on a landing. it went from under my eye and down my cheek, and i had a bloody nose and a bunch of little cuts and i didnt even go in. actually i didnt even know i was bleeding until the lift guy asked me if i was okay. then i touched my face, ruined my new gloves, went down again and stuck the landing and went inside hahahaha.

Yeagh...third time skiing with school, I went off a 14ft freestyle kicker...parents met me at the hospital...2 fractured disks...after that I convinced them into lessons...Oh and dont tell them what you are doing...after you break somthing, tell them how stupid you were and that you learned your lesson...Ive had to use that with many things...

Broke my shoulder on March 13th 2006

Health insurence was in effect on April 1st 2006

It cost me $6,000 just for an ER visit and some xrays. My mom was ripshit because I broke it at my mountain that I instruct at, and if I was wearing my instructors jacket at the time it would've been covered under workmans comp. But, I wasn't wearing it so we had to pay out of our pocket. It sucked.

i am fuckign lucky to live in canada because i brake shit so often.

lets just put it this way...my mom has been to the hospityal so much for me and my bro, a security gaurd thought she worked there.

she always gives me that look and says"dont do anything stupid" and i always say "yes mom"

she never constitutes what "stupid" is.

hahaha when i was 10 i was ripping down a blue run and caught an edge, broke my coller bone and needed alot of stiches. they way i got out of i was saying that a snowboarder in a puffy jacket hit me. haha the mountain covered the costs and i got a free pass for everyone in my family!!!!!!

it's not that my parents couldn't afford it, so they are dumping it on me. They want me to learn to be as responsible as i can for my actions, and realize the large price of some of the things i do.

Live in a country with a National Health Service!

We're thinking of supplying heroin for free over here.

my dad sat me down once after i got a concussion and told me that i need to reconsider how hard i push myself skiing, and whether or not it is worth putting my soccer career in jeopardy. i just tore my mcl and meniscus so we just had the same talk again. just tell them that youre going to slow down and take it easier, and then don't. it'll at least get them off your back, and then if you actually do get hurt like i did, well then good luck.

my mom is always worried. she doesnt let me go to the mountain with just my friends unless its a school trip. either her or my dad or someones parents has to be in the lodge or skiing

my parents are cool with me assuming the risk, and i have pretty protective and sheltering parents. they figured that since i love skiing so much im gonna do it whether they want me to or not so they figured as long as i wear a helmet and don't do anything too stupid, they are cool with it.

My parents both ski and realize that a few months of injurys are worth it to me. They just tell me I'm gunna be hurtin when I'm old.

my parents are fine with it. they do get worried but they say if i want to do it that is fine. They also say accidents happen

Just don't hurt your neck, back, or knees. I can say from experience that those are all very expensive things to mess up.
