InDoor Skiing Comes To The USA........

Hey guys, just got out of a couple meetings at Doppelmayr CTec in SLC, for those of you who dont know who or what they do well there one of the last Chair Lift Manufacturers in the world... One thing i found out there is that in Newark, New Jersey, they are building a indoor skiing center.... I was told that it will open Aug 6, 2009 but that may change......

Yeah one reason we were in the meeting was because they were trying to come up with a way to hang the chair lift from the ceiling.... cant wait tell this goes in......
 
so dope i stayed in the newark area during my vacation and took buses to manhattan during the day

and yea i saw that and wanted to ski but they were still building plus i had none of ma shit.
 
yes... it will def be full of intercity gapers... but i heard for a little birdie that the mt. lab from mt. creek was going to be building the rails and park for the indoor ski area... and its not in newark, though its close, its in the medowlands, right near giants stadium as stated above..
 
thats awesome, jerseys actually getting a ski dome done this fall supposedly. so i guess there will be 2 ski domes for me to ski year round. sick!
 
I cant find many on the internet, and the people building it dident have any on them... so maybe some of you guys could take some photos and post them.........
 
isn't there going to be one in vegas too. i read that in Skiing magazine a year or two ago. its going to be connected to a hotel too i think. ha ha ski vegas
 
yeah i think soo, the one in NJ will be the first one to open in the US, but i think there going to start popin up all over. once the big wigs see that theres money in shit like this its going to go offf..........

quebec definitly needs one caus on bad snow years it would be so fucking. anyway its not that far aeway from, i think i could make it up ther like next summer. sounds sick!!!
 
Sick, good to see these things popping up all over, i need to go into the indoor skiing industry, big money in it, plus i know quite abit about it, hmm.
 
They really need one in San Francisco... theres so many good skiers here that arent able to make it over 20 days... so much talent wasted... putting in one of these would help, for sure..
 
yeah, i think its just a matter of time befor we start seeing more and more and more..... how sweet would it be if they built one with a dope ass park, and jumps, and snow ramps to water..??......
 
uh the meadowlands isn't in Newark, its in East Rutherford, and its not ghetto its just a bunch of swamp land with Giants Stadium and a lot of hotels and other businesses. Also, I think the whole place is pretty much done they are just waiting until they sell all of the retail space.

by the way, isn't this reeeaaalllllyyyy old news?
 
yeah it is old news but they ran out of money or somehting and nothing was going on for a couple years. I always drive by on my way to PA.
 
it is old news...but you gotta remember 1/2 the people on this site are 12...so a few years ago they didnt even know what ns was enver mind this particular peice of info.

but i thought they had stopped...so its cool to hear they are back at building it!!! and aug 6 is my birthday! if it opens on my birthday i just might have to go!!!!
 
oh and ps...that link to the Boston globe article...that article really pisses me off.....it says ski runs and snowboard park....wtf? is it 1995 again? I know it shouldn't bother me and the guy writing it is obviously just a moron...but it does.....
 
I live like 15/20 minutes from it and I probably won't go there much. I mean, it is gunna be flat, crowded, and word on the street is that tickets are going to be extremely expensive. So they might have a few rails which would be nice but how much of this little thing could honestly be park?
