Indoor Ski Resort

The Snow Dome, part of the Xanadu complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey is soon going to open to the public for skiing 365 days a year. Like the indoor ski resort in Madrid, it will have features like rails and jumps. What does everyone think about this and who will test it out? I would.

Heres a link to an article:

This is like 40 mins from me. The building is up, but who knows when it will be open. They dont have any investors. There are supposed to be ~300 retail spaces and they have only filled like ~35. It will be a few years before anything substantial is done. They already ran out of money once. The project is 5 years old.

thats sick..its prob like a 2 hour drive for me but im def hittin it up this summer prob gunna be SOO crowded though

i know there is a point to building rails in an indoor park but jumps?? would u be able to get any speed to try anything off of them? rn't the runs like 50 feet long or someting.

I think it would be fun to practice in, but nothing can compare to the feel that you get while you're on the mountain... shredding the pow... skiing the trees... etc. That being said, I hope they open one of these near me soon.

I guess that's the closest one to montreal... if not, can anyone tell me if theres any indoor ski resort with some kind of a snow park that's closer to montreal ?

I live in Holland, so the only mountains we have, are indoor slopes.. So between the trips to the mountains, we're having fun indoor. It's pretty good for railing.. we have some nice parks. The jumps however, are always smaller then in the mountains.. And with a lot of pop, because only then you can get some airtime.

its hardly a resort, iv skid indores one or twice there nothing special they get boring after a while there but fun all the same because u get good at rail, thing iv noticed is you get indoor park rat kids so when they come out they dont have a clue how to ski on a real mountain or what to do in the big world there also mega pricy

I live in England and we have a few over here. Good for summer, but the one closest to me is always packed with gapers that cant ski for shit and think they own it. This on be might be better tho. I dunno.

well, there goes any chance I'll visit it. it's not too far from me, maybe an hour maximum, but at that price I could ski up in VT.

It will probably be one semi-steep incline. Half of it will a totally smooth groomer deal with gapers everywhere and the other half will be smallish rails and maybe a small jump.

okay, true that. but $80 seems waaay steep. Maybe $40 at most. If it's really $80 then maybe I'd go once in the summer to get my fix and fuel my obsession/ see what it's like haha. other than that, surfing is free so I'll stick with that in the summer.

thats what i ski on the majourity of the time here in england, we have about 5 of them all around the country, definatly pretty fun, but nothing like the real thing

Agreed, now way id go more than a weekend if its that expensive, but i dont have anywhere to surf, maybe pick up some skates or somethin

heaps of tony's and joey's in north jersey too. Maybe they'll play techno so they can pump their fists as they cruise down the hill...on another note, i would like them to track how many people ski in jeans.

i guess its a cool idea, i mean you can ski all summer but its gonna be really crowded and i heard it gonna cost a ton

"The Snow Dome will be filled with rails, jumps, and kids from Manhattan

who can't quite commit to the hour long commute to snowboard at Mountain Creek."

Hahah. Aka, like two rails and lots and lots of assholes and gapers

Hey, I live in NYC and I am constantly at Creek hitting up the park. We aren't all gapers damn it.

I'll totally hit this place up if it opens before creek. It's now an hour by the way, I can make it in 45 minutes when I go early in the morning.

by the time this opens boulder is probably gonna be open, so i probably wont come to this place until like next summer

Bring your gaper hunting gear, winter is their migritory season to the north, but summer they should be in their native climate

ok well heres the big secret which most of you probably wont care too much about. jiblab(the guys that make rails and stuff at mtn creek) might help out with the xanadu park. which means sick jibs and shitty jumps! its not official yet though

That will be really sick if they let them handle the promotion side of getting some events rolling combined with their jibs. That will mean quality! excellent tip.
