I think this might be the world's first indoor halfpipe, its being built for the MTV2 snowjam this saturday in Milton Keynes England. Gonna be an awesome session.

That`s not the first indoor half-pipe...Vuokatti ski resort in Finland (of course) has had an indoor half-pipe for years...but it`s kinda small and icy :/

They may be running cryo of some sort through the base under the snow.

i want one. that would be sooo nice to have for the other seasons, not to mention winter considering that's a wayyy better pipe than what's in the midwest...

is that even sloped at all? it doesn't look like it. how the hell are they going to keep speed, unless they are using snowmobile tows or something.

Going to be open to the public for 2 months after the MTV event.

I reckon it might get closed down earlier though, as a lot of gapers with no clue who've never ridden a pipe before are likely to nail themselves, and it won't be a good advert to have stretcher after stretcher carrying out broken people.

 
pipe is pretty safe. The ppl who get hurt are the ppl going big--and if you have the skills to go big in the pipe u'r gonna be just fine most of the time.

Yeah, you're right.

But you haven't seen some of the goons that ride in this place. Plus, as its quite a big thing, the UKs first indoor snow halfpipe, its going to be super busy.

Hopefully no one will be hurt, but i think its pretty likely

^Its not that great here, im sure you'd much prefer to live where it actually snowed. And yes it is on a slope, its just hard to see rom the angle. Don't think it's being aired this saturday, only filmed. Million dead and Jetplane landing are playing...any good?

I'm making the trip down. Hey, you know the dates for the AIM series this year? I heard they were on the website but couldn't find them. Also heard of an invitational big air sesh in Glasgow City Centre! :D

that snow dome is the smaller one in england theres a much bigger one in castleford, england, its pretty sick... wen they've got a jump and good rails

I think the Glasgow city centre thing is part of the AIM series right? Its an invite only comp though. Will be really sick though. Anyone know Glasgow? Georges square or something like that?

(This is pretty cool, not often you get any UK news getting more that about 3 posts before getting forgotten about!)

7th/8th August - Halifax, Artificial British Big Air Championships, plus Team event

21st/22nd August - Midlothian, Artificial British Boarder/Skier X Championships, plus Slope Style

4th September - Castleford, Indoor British Slope Style Championships, plus Boarder/Skier X

18th September - Milton Keynes, Indoor British Boarder/Skier X Championships, plus Slope Style

10th October - Glasgow City Centre, Big Air (Ski & Snowboard AIM Invitational only)

23/24th October - Sheffield, Artificial British Slope Style Championships plus Boarder/Skier X, Halfpipe Jam Session

Yea man, it's supposedly part of the AIM Series, I know Glasgow very well, it's my home town. Is it really george square? SICK! Buchannan Street would be killer because it's got a good slope, I've been talking about trying to setup a slopestyle/street comp there for years and end it just outside TISO.

Seriosuly, How on Earth are You goin to have one in Glasgow City Center? It ghas no slpe. They should DO it at Hampden, fill in stairts as the jump or something. If they do it in Glasgow Center (centre) get pictures, cause this I gotta see

 
I'm not sure if it is in Georges square dude, just heard that from somewhere. Would be crazy, I went to a radio 1 new years dance event there a few years ago!

 
The guy that said Glasgow City Centre has no slopes... HAVE YOU EVER BEEN?! The City Centre is spread over 9 'drumlins'! Ever been to Strathclyde University? Buchannan street could have an in-ramp built on the steps to the Royal Concert hall, gap the glass underground station! Would be incredible and give some sick shots! Good crowd too, I've had 200+ people watch me drop off that glass underground thing on a bike. Think what a bunch of skiers, boarders and SNOW would get?!

I reckon it will be, yeah. With big fuck off sponsorship from Orange, so i hope a fair amount of money will go into it.

Will be sick, I'll certainly make the journey up there for it.

Well one day i was walking by and a saw a man and he said he would give my gold plated skis if i gave up snow in lower wisconsin and i got greedy and that is why we get no snow
 
I just had my mate Ally Watson over there, hopefully some of the guys with some results under their belts from Glasgow will get in, or even just good local kids. We'll see though. Yea, should bring more money into the sport. No1 distributes many of the newschool brands in Scotland, so it's pretty tough. I hear Blues might be dropping LINE to.

We need money and publicity, this will bring both.

Yo Paddy, I think it's a certainty on the series... by the looks of things anyways. A few of us here and writing to the council up here and things. I've been thinking about an event like this for years, literally, just needed the backing. Now AIM step up to the plate. Will be interesting who they invite, I'm sure you guys will be on the list though.

japan has hilarious indoor ski resorts. just like huge man made tunnels with snow in them, i saw a pic of one in the guiness book of world records
