Indie

Off the top of my head Death Cab, Bloc Party, Artic Monkeys, Band of Horses, Cold War Kids, Hard-Fi, Louis XIV, Pedro the Lion to name a couple.

Also if you know any good indie bands Im open to hearing new stuff

I'm starting to listen to more indie along with rap. So far I'm digging Band of Horses, TV on the Radio, Modest Mouse, etc.

thats exactly proving that it is infact dead. Indie means indipendant music on independant labels. Which isn't any of the bands that call themselves indie.

no im saying that all indie rock in general is dieing. im sorry but i hate to say it. you cant really bring anything new to the table anymore. theres nothing to explore when it comes to sound. your just gonna hear the same shit over and over. kind of what happened to classical music. in a couple decades the "guitar" is gonna be some old ass boring instrument like the violin or piano.

and if you look at it in turns of production, its pointless. to make a decent indie rock album you need to know all these instruments, you gotta have bandmates and you gotta go to the recording studio. meanwhile i can go out with 200 dollars in my pocket and buy a midi keyboard to hook up to my laptop and create instant club bangers with the right amount of experience with programs.

Your negativity depresses me.

and the piano and violin arent boring

plus no one wants to hear you and your midi keyboard

i agree, i hate going to indie shows because i usually have to sit through 4 horrible sounding bands to see the one i actually like.

the violin isn't boring? seriously, how many people do you know play the violin at home? the answer is probably none.

i dont hate indie bands. i like a lot of them. im just saying that the shit is getting really stale

the mountain goats, olivia tremor control, neutral milk hotel, the sea and cake, pavement, the silver jews, of montreal, cloud cult, broken social scene, calexico, yo la tengo, belle and sebastian, animal collective, pinback, kings of convenience, the microphones, mirah, karl blau, Y.A.C.H.T.

also, the "K records" message board, at krecs.com, is usually a good source of info for all things "indie."

and to anyone who said indie is dying, no offense but thats silly. as long as people continue to record little albums in their bedroom, tour across the country playing in peoples attics, network and grow by word of mouth, indie will be alive and strong. the shins is not indie rock. you gotta look underground.

I know people who play the violin and have so since they were little. Its a very difficult instrument to play well and when done right makes beautiful music. Just cause you dont prefer it doesnt mean you should hate on it.

he mountain goats, PAVEMENT, of montreal, broken social scene,, pinback, dandy warhols, earlimart, vampire weekend are some "indie" bands that i like, but there is such a huge spectrum of bands you could never really catigorize them all---indie folk, electronic indie, all acoustic stuff, and more mainstream stuff...its just progressive music with a new sound

q and not u, beep beep, the spinto band, tapes 'n tapes, broken social scene, chikita violenta, tokyo police club, yeasayer...there are a lot more too. And I wouldn't say indie is dead at all.

how can you say theres nothin left to do on the guitar man? thats what they said before eliectrics, and thats what they said befor FX, and then tapping came... never say never my friend

man, spokane is like seattle minus the creativity
if i never have to hear another indie band inmy life i'll die happy.
