Indie? become crap?

indeed there are less """"""""""""gay"""""""""""" indie bands but all in all its pretty much just crap now.
 
how can you try and label all indy bands in one fell swoop? do you have any idea how retarded you sound? that like saying that all romantic era music is crap.

dont be dumb. if you want to call out some bands, then by all means, be my guest. but to say that indy sucks.... sucks.
 
you queer dykes! Have you ever taken a moment to consider what indie means... it means independant. all the bands you pitiful victims of pop culture are calling "gay" are no longer "independant". Such band as "death cap for cutie" used to be independant, but arent anymore. what you are now required to do is look deeper, perhaps the website pitchfork.com can point you in the proper direction. Indie bands certainly do exist, though they are progressing as if to stay independant and ahead of the curb. indie will NEVER die unless fascist gov't censorship programs ban all forms of expression.

if indie has gone gay its not indie music anymore. to many bands call them self for indie bands now.
 
this is true. very true. but i think there are still good indie bands out there producing music. even the old ones are still doing some producing. would you say "of montreal" is in the style of music that would fit when someone said "an indie band" and wasnt reffering to their status if they have or have not been picked up by a major label?

What really is indie though? I mean iron and wine is on sub pop records with a ton of other bands. Does a band become indie if a "major" record company doesn't back them?

i'm talking about the genre, not the actual definition.

because pop really means "popular music", but it too is just a style of music, or else all music played on any radio station would automatically become "pop"...see what i mean?

in any case, indie can be pretty pretentious, but it also has some sweet music.

In my opinion, those are the kind of bands that are called indie bands, but arent realy(oh dont get me wrong, both are sick) These are bands are almost pop bands in my opinion.

Indie rock bands i like that I mean is real indie is The smiths, The Decemberists, interpol and modest mouse.

To say indie has become commerical is wrong, there are so many indie bands out there, so many different types..
 
I've got mixed feelings about pitchfork. Its steered me right and steered me wrong. they are pretentious as hell in writing their reviews and in other segments of the site, but have definitely helped me hit up some nice new music.
 
ahahh that pitchfork comic is amazing. they know their stuff when it comes to indie, but they should stay out of hip hop. grr.

but indie hasn't become crap just like rap hasn't become crap just like.....etc.

people are just jumping on the indie-craze bandwagon, and so theres bound to be some crappier bands.
