Indian holy man hasn't eat or drank anything for 70 years

HE SURVIVED. HOLY FUCK. for a whole fortnight. apparently...

http://madmikesamerica.com/2010/05/update-man-who-has-not-eaten-for-70-years-astounds-scientists/

...Prahlad Jani spent a fortnight in a hospital in the western India state of Gujarat under constant surveillance from a team of 30 medics equipped with cameras and closed circuit television.

During the period, he neither ate nor drank and did not go to the toilet. “We still do not know how he survives,” neurologist Sudhir Shah told reporters after the end of the experiment. “It is still a mystery what kind of phenomenon this is.”.......

wow. maybe he IS a plant after all....

those indian doctors are obviously lying. this is physically impossible for any organism besides plants and even plants need water.

but if what he claims is true (an elixir gets poured into his head by his god to replenish him), then him being a holy man could actually be plausible. that might sound crazy, but try and find another explanation after this recent update. or yes like you said, it could all be a hoax.

im not taking sides until i find out more info...hes got to last a good month before ill believe him

kind weird. like i cant believe it somehow. its some supposedly sketchy indian scientists and stuff, so we always look for an excuse.

honestly, idk how many institutions/scientists confirming this would be sufficient for me to believe it. maybe if the NASA, tom wallisch and the UN officially say that he doesnt need food/water because they supervised him for a year, it would be enough.

maybe without food, but certainly not without water.

i remember a few years back there was a mining accident in austria, and a guy was rescued after 6 or 8 days, i cant remember exactly. and it was considered a miracle, since 3 days is kinda the maximum to survive without water. i remember this because everyone and his mum speculated how he survived, whether "god helped" him or maybe the rain-soaked mine provided enough moisture to keep him alive, blblabla

the thing that kinda puts doubt into my brain on this one is that he lost weight while they monitored him. So if he had been doing this for 70 years then wouldn't he have simply wasted away?

Did they ever say how much weight he lost? My weight fluctuates when I'm stressed/on a different schedule/etc., but obviously it isn't a lot. "Lost weight" isn't enough info, is there an update anywhere? I could lose an ounce and report that I "lost weight".

guys lets focus on what the meaning behind this story is. indian's have WAY to much fucking time on their hands.

Yes me too, two weeks ago I've spent all my time studying for my exams and I was eating junk food. I still manage to lose 10 pounds during that week. So yeah, wieght fluctuates a lot IMO, it's not really a good comparaison.

Going two weeks without food or water is definitely not unheard of... especially for Indians who practice fasting as a part of their religion their entire lives.

Anyone who truly believes this man has not eaten/drank for 70 years is a fool. It's terrifying to believe the Indian Military is actually utilizing this man's hoax to gain knowledge for surviving future disasters.

Fasting is like any other skill, it requires practice and devotion over many years- Something no one will accomplish directly following a natural disaster...

So God have mercy on their souls.

Obvious hoax.

"“The reports were all in the pre-determined safety range through the observation period,” Shah told reporters at a press conference last week."

What are these pre-determined safety regions? I honestly don't know but I'm willing to bet that they sure aren't normal healthy conditions. It doesn't say anything about him not loosing weight or anything of the sort. All it says is that he stayed within the predetermined safety range, and then offers no insight into what this range is

As previously stated in the thread it is possible to live much longer than 2 weeks without food or water.

As for what their motivation is... for creating this hoax? Probably an attempt to persuade non believers or to reafirm faith. Could be wrong, who knows really. Who honestly even cares this is obvious bullshit

i am not saying that this guy is jesus or so, but your facts arent correct either. show me 5 confirmed stories of people who went more than 14 days without water.

you guys are confusing water and food. look at the charte in the middle of that site. maybe its not perfect, and give it 25% error. still, being in the shade without water at 70-50 °F at the best gives you 10 days. AT FUCKIN BEST. and you probably just lie around like a fucked up animal after the third day.

http://www.survivaltopics.com/survival/how-long-can-you-survive-without-water/

Dude he's been claiming this for 70 years, I'm sure he's down to the minimum he needs. You're confusing the chart, you scream AT FUCKIN BEST, but those figures are made for an AVERAGE PERSON not someone who's been fasting for the majority of his life.

Would you believe a freediver if he told you he could hold his breath for 70 weeks but tried to prove it by making it to the 5 minute mark?????

ok, you have your point, i was just referring to the people who say that 14 days without water is nothing special.

but if he goes over 1 month, it would be a medical sensation in any way.

I can't believe how many retarded people there are in this thread.

Isn't it obvious that he's photosynthesizing?

Read a book, goddammit.

I keep checking this tread to wait and see an update and that this fool is dead, but NS is really letting me down.

what do we burn witches with???? MORE WITCHES!!!!!!!!

and I dont think i believe that at all everyone needs water to survive

jesus christ, it does not work that way. it does not go *poof* 70 years has passed!

he has gone 15 days without water, already something that would kill ANYBODY who tries it. better yet, you are doubting him, when thus far he has been fine. do you lack the brain power to comprehend that he has already accomplished an apparently superhuman feat? just because it has not been 70 years does not make his feat any less amazing, and does not provide you with reason to doubt the claims. get the fuck over whatever you believe and begin to recognize that if you tried to go 7 days without water, you would be on your bedroom floor hallucinating and soon dead.

Actually, in my very unprofessional opinion, I would say the fact that he's been observed going for fifteen days without water is much less amazing than going for 25,550 days without water. Amazing still, but considerably less amazing.

my point is that he is denouncing the validity so early on. when in fact, all the man has done is stay true to his claims.

Its really just a matter of Occam's razor. Its much, much more likely that hes just cheating somehow (although obviously he is still able to last longer than most humans without water).

I'd believe it when he is completely isolated and is observed 24/7 by legit scientists for at least a month with absolutely no chance of being given any food or water.

here's a big point you all seem to be missingyou say he's living off of no energy sourceREAD THE LAST FUCKING PART OF THE 2 WEEK UPDATEit's about him possibly having a different source of energyif that was so, you wouldn't need ATP to get converted into glucoseyou'd have sunshine and rainbows

Valid Point.

And to that Hiney guy above - since when is ATP converted to glucose in cell respiration, assuming that's what you were referring to?

It said that he bathed and gargled during the 15 days. That motherfucker most definitely drank some water if he was soaking and gargling the shit.

i havnt read recent comments, so sorry if im repeating someone. but after the two weeks they have let him go. fuck man they should of kept him longer than that. and even the scientists are saying they think he gains energy from the sources that arnt calories eg the sun. this shits getting out of hand. and to the comment above me, if he was only there for two weeks, one or two sips while he was bathing or gargling could have made him last the two weeks. so yeah, he couldve cheated. it sounds like there were a lot of flaws in the investigation though
