Alright, anyone that went to tenney on the 4th knows that the landing was terrible. last night i had the greatest idea that you could duct tape the bottom of your skis up so they wouldnt get screwed over. you dont have to turn going down the hill so u wont need edges, and its icy snow so wax wont matter. am i just a complete idiot or could it work?

i think thats possible the dumbest idea ever, everyone who has read this thread just got a little dumber. duct tape is not that slippery, plus the fact that the stickyness will be on your bases for ever, but hey what the heck, go for it, you really dont care about your bases anyway.

actually, duct tape probably will work, it will slide on the snow. Back in the day we fixed a snapped ski with a peice of 2x4 and duct tape. The ski didn't flex, but it sure as shit was fast. Also, any of you ever ripped anything and put duct tape on it, it can be slicker than shit, I almost slid right off a lift in a snow storm cause I duct taped split pants.

I think I'll be the only one to say try it, but I think I'm also one of few that might have some experience with skis and duct tape too.

Whats the worst that can happen, it doesn't work well enough, and you have to re-tune your skis.

 
i dont no... it could work, but what bout rails man... you are gunna jump on the rail and fling straight forward into the rail killing your ribs

I didn't think about rails - kinda skimmed some of the posts, but personally I think you are right, I don't think duct tape would work well on rails. Jumping you should be fine, but rails, I would stay away if you duct tape em.

or just leave a space with no duct tape in the middle of your skis so you can still slide rails. but i doubt the duct tape will work. it has fibers in it which doesnt make it flat, it makes it kinda of bumpy. and as slick as it is the ridges and bumps would probabaly slow you down. and once it gets waterlogged the silver stuff which would make you go fast peels away and all your left with is hard glue and cloth imbedded on your bases. the pores of your bases would probabaly get glue in them too and would be there forever. putting duct tape on your skis would not be kosher for your bases. dont do it.

if you put a layer of ducttape, and then put a layer of wax on the duct tape it might work for skiing, but i don't kno about rails.

put like posterboard or really thin cardboard on the bases, then duck tape it, then wax the tape.....

keeps the tape off the bases, and still works.
