Increase Sprint Speed

Does anyone know who I can drastically increase my sprint speed? I've just started playing College American football (in the UK) and I'm a receiver, but I want to be rapid!

Anyone got some tips/ drills?

Thanks!

Its mainly your endurance. Work and exercise that. Also try and take longer strides when you're sprinting, it helps you go farther quicker

if you have extra time on your hands learning a bit of biomechanics may help too. if you understand exactly what your body is doing when you run it's easier to develop proper form and techniques

Actually sprinting has nothing to do with endurance...

This is what happens when you ask children on NS for any kind of advice.

hill sprint

prowler push/drag

Burst speed. Why not just practice sprinting, proper body positioning also helps. Springing off your toes. and acting like you are running from a pack of wild hyenas trying to rip your dick off!

-body should be aligned at a forward angle (this includes your head) -90 degree bends at the elbows sinders together

-stay loose dont tense your shoulders as much as you can

- swing your arms hard but dont break the 90 degree bend

-dont swing your arms in front of you but only at your sides... your hands should swipe your hips

- dont swing one arm more than another

-get videos of you running

- dont over step your stride or it will actually slow you down

There is so much you can do but Technique will make a huge difference. I went from being a middle of the pack runner on my rugby team to one of the fastest and it was all from being taught technique and then practicing that technique in different drills such as ladders and just running. core strength, hip mobility and your glutes are all key and sometimes over looked aswell ( do proper lunges). All this technique may feel unnatural so as you practice sprinting find a natural balance that feels good and incorporates as much technique as will feel good. For me I have poor shoulder mobility so I swing my arms a little closer to the vertical mid line of my body (even though it should be avoided) so I can keep my upper body loose.

These things help you be fast in a straight line mostly, since you are a receiver agility is important too but I really have no idea how to help with that. I hope this wasn't too much I just wanted to share what I have come to learn and what has helped me. There is so much more than this too, I'm sure there are some good resources online...
