Inception

it confuses me the more i think about it lol, and yea thats an interesting point.. i still think SPOILER-- that he is stuck in limbo the entire movie from the time he was with his wife. so hes creating it all over n over.

woo 100th post.

My theory: There was no gravity in the hotel dream, because in the van dream they were being tossed about. Now perhaps because they were all still in the hotel, there was gravity in the Fisher's dream.... Although I'm not really sure.

dub post, I don't think that's possible, because there are parts in the movie where his totem stops spinning, so he must have been in the real world then.

wat?

theres no gravity in the van therefore theres no gravity in the hotel.

it follows then, that because there is no gravity in the hotel, there should be no gravity in the snow.

New theory: Perhaps because the architect(Ellen Paige) is under at the time that it goes to zero G, she can't fix it. But, perhaps she can in Fishers dream.

new theory: that movie has no theory. you think of something and thats correct, but then there are 5 reasons why its wrong.

anyone catch the guy on the snowmobile wearing splices? guess i'm just a ski nerd

dope movie though

god damnit. I had a different oppinion about how you were making it too complicated but then I realized how mind fucked I was and that I'm going to have to watch it again before I try to lay this whole story out hahaha.

WOW.

And to think I understood it... FUCK. I am pretty sure that the whole "Inception with the business guy in order to help the chinese guy who would clear his name so that he could get back to his kids" thing was reality...
I think the last little top spinning scene was just a thinking device for what could actually have happened if he hadn't gotten over his own sub-conscience that he created (wife).

(dub post, i know) But NOT ONLY was it brilliantly written, the fight scenes (especially the hotel hallway) were FUCKING AMAZING as well!

Wow! Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. Not really sure what theory I believe, but that's the beauty of it, there is no right or wrong...

No, but make sure she's not an idiot, or she'll be asking you what's going on every five minutes.

There were two girls behind us that nearly ruined the movie, because one of them kept asking the other about the plot every 10 seconds, in an outdoor voice.

i saw something today about the hotel fight scene and none of it was computer generated. They built a hallway and then suspended it while attached to a rotating thing, spun it and then said action. pretty crazy stuff. cant wait for it to come out on DVD so i can watch it at least 5 more times to fully understand it.

easily in the top 10 sickest movies i've seen. so complicated yet simple to understand. buying on blu ray right when it comes out

"So what inspired you to create the movie 'Inception'?"

"Basically, a team of illegal extraction artists sedated me and created a triple-layer dream within my mind. They then planted the idea for the movie in a combination safe stored within the deepest part of my subconscious."

It was a pretty amazing movie. The only part that I didn't get is when the people were falling in the van while dreaming, why did this affect the gravity of their dream?

Anyone else pick up the 4th level of the dream? After the snowy place, they went to limbo, which they weren't planning to do. The city was the first level, the Hotel the second, the mountain the third. Now at this point the dream should have been incredibly unstable, which it wasn't, besides Fischer's mind trying to kill them (anyone else pick up on the gray polarized Splices?). Then, when the dude and whats-her-face go to Limbo to find the Asian man, they go into the dude's (Leo?) memories, or the fourth level. Shouldn't that have been incredibly unstable, and more shit should have happened?

the movie was OK, I thought it would be more confusing but it was really straight forward as far as the main plot line. The fact that the final scene is left open ended means it could either be real or all a dream, you'll never know and it really doesn't matter.

The whole point of the final scene is that you can't tell if you're in a dream or if its real. You realize it doesn't really matter what it is because its the same anyways.

This movie was so intense it made me wanna poo my pants. But you see girls don't poo so that just shows how intense it was!

You are literally the only person in this thread that didn't like it, otherwise known as the exception that proves the rule.

the cool part is that it's hard to say whether his totem was about to fall or not at the end so it's all like aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh but leaving it a question at the end was the only good way to end it.
Like it or not, at least it didn't have an ending like Wanted or some shit. That sucked.

just postin to say im very glad i saw this movie. way better than i expected. also this is the first movie ive ever seen opening day *claim* kinda...

Heres how i see it. In a normal dream things on the outside vaugley affect whats going on in a dream, if someone screams at you while you are sleeping maybe in your dream someone screams your name. So in the first level of their dream what happens in that one seems as that normal reality to the second level, therefor when the car was falling it gave the second level the zero gravity effect.

The limbo was the "4th level" if you want to look at it like that, but limbo is just a sandbox of free space anf your imagination, so not really a level. (oh and i did pick up on the splices, yes) The limbo then turned into the Asian guys limbo because the main character was trying to find him so he had to go to the second level of limbo, or in essence a 5th level. The Asian guy's section of the limbo could be called a 4th or 5th level depending on if you count limbo's as levels. What wasn't shown was how he got to the beach when he appeared on the Asian guy's limbo or the main character killing the Asian and himself, to give the kick out of the limbo version of the Asian's world. If that makes sense.

Exactly, Leo and the Asian guy kill themselves to get themselves out of limbo, therefore returning to the plane as if nothing happened.

the only thing that happened was that they ran into mal. cobb's assistant guy said that if you go to limbo, it is either a sandbox of data, or it's what was left behind by anyone you go with that has already been there. mal and he had created that world and mal was almost taken over his entire subconscious.

and it didn't matter how long it took him because 50 years in the asian guy's limbo would have been like a minute on the plane

i saw it last night and i thought it was really bad. awesome movie in theory but the acting, script, extreme amounts of loose ends, and just so many things not lining up correctly (prime example being the anti gravity not going through to the snow world or whatever). the entire time i was watching it it just felt like the people who made this film rushed it to get it out in time for a summer blockbuster.

inb4 OMFG U DINT UNDERSTAND TEH PLOT IOT WAS SO MINDBLOWING LOLOLOL I LOVE LIKE SHIT ABOUT DREAMS!!!
