In your opinion who is the most progressive skier?

im impressed by corey vanular, hes always on top despite being injured half the time it seems.

progress means shit, oooooo no poles! people have been doing that for years. but no thats it's in a movie it must be cool and new. maybe i should start skiing with one pole, OMG thats like totally new. just do what you want, there is minor progress in the ski industry

definitely pollard...... he has tried things never done before and makes people realize what can be done a a pair of skis......

how does progress mean shit? I personally think that the ski industry needs the freestyle movement to be able to keep up with snowboarding, I mean 75% of all my friends and everyone I know snowboards now, and the freestyle scene finally makes everyone say....wow, skiing isnt as easy as I thought it was, every single thing we do on skis is at least twice as hard as the same trick on a snowboard. without progression in the sport....we would all be snowboarding!

thats a lie and you just made a huge generalization. Anyone that says skiing tricks are twice as hard as anything on a snowboard is either really stupid or an ignorant shit. there are tons of tricks that are way harder on a board then skis and vice versa. learn your facts.

The most "progressive" skier is the one who stops buying into trends, fads, and copying everyone else. They ski for fun, and that is evident in how they ski. Simple as that.

PURE BIG MOUNTAIN- ian macintosh, as evidenced in lost and found. he keeps nailing these crazy straightline double drops where he launches like a 50 footer, lands right on the knuckle of the second, lauches, stomps, done. insane. furthermore, ak spines: up till now, even the great jjones, nobis, seth, shane etc kinda speed check/smear down these monsters. ian mac takes a more direct balls out approach and as a result, has more gnarly bails, but when he stcks it, oh my...

oh, and ingrid b- shredding so hard for the chicks right now.

ALL AROUND- Erik Hjor in particular, but Abma, Sage, Rory B and now Kye P- these guys are charging super hard in the bc, kill it in ak like the best of them, but give them a sick kicker and they throw down in that environment too! these guys embody my favorite type of skier- absolutely destroy every aspect of the sport- g, abma even is sick at pipe!

PURE PARK- Pk Hunder, Andreas, Gagnier, Sammy: what impresses me is that they do the most incredibly tech stuff, but still keep it really steezy. i love riders with really distinctive style, and i think these guys epitomise this.

PURE STEEZE- I put candide in this category, because he's candide, the single most progressive figure in the history of freeskiing. again, you see a small dude doing a rediculously corked spin on a huge jump, grabbing tail, you know immediately its candide. Jon goes here as well, because he is an absolute steeze machine, and although his pioneering dubflips are technically impressive, its the way he makes it look so easy thats most impressive i think. Then, there's the Idea guys, nuff said i think.

I can't let this thread go without anyone talking about Charles Gagnier. He keeps looking for new grabs, new ways to slide rails, spinning all possible sides and axis... That's my definition of progression.

Id say seth for BC lines, and ian mac, no doubt there.

Allround I would say Pollard, Pep and Tanner, those guys started by dominating in park, then they went to the backountry to impose their style there, and now they just rule at pow jibbing.

For pure park, I have to say candide, he's there and he's always been, Jon because I think he's the best of them all, and what he did for the sport with his doubles, his perfect robotish style and his invitaional brings absolute progression to skiing. Then I would say PK, because he created a style that is unique and mind blowing, and I'd say that skiing needs more riders like that.

Depends what kind of progressing...

Jumps - Without a doubt J.O. kangaroo flip is sick

Rails- you have to give it up for T.Wall, and the IHateNY crew... pretzels, grendels, hippie killers and whatnots have never seen so possible.

BackCountry - Seth Morrison and Pollard both have done alot for the industry and revolutionizing freeskiing.
