In your opinion, what is the most durable brand of skiing?

I don't know if head still makes them, but like three years ago head made two cap construction park skis with "snake skin topsheet" and my goodness I have never seen a ski look so fresh after years of getting beat to crap, and I had the junior version!

K2's also seem to hold up well, they won't always look good but they just won't die.

Before i get lots of hate, Suspects are durable and are my favorite skis. Most of NS hate on them, even though they never had a pair.Who cares if the top sheet gets chipped and ruined. I have spoken with multiple members who previously owned suspects and 90% of them loved the ski. Just take care of them and don't do stupid things and wax them plus detune them. Anyways everyone has their own opinions so they is no right answer.

I had an old pair of used 2004 k2 public enemies, they were indestructible. I'm not heavy but I ski fairly aggressively and I just couldn't damage the edge or base of these skis. The topsheet had gone to complete shit but that has no affect on performance. I've skied urban, bonked and stomped rails, caught edges, hit rocks, and trees but nothing has managed to move the edges from their place or damage the base. I stil have the skis somewhere in the garage and I plan to continue buying k2's because of how reliable they are.

Right now I'm skiing rossignol s4 Jibs. I was able to put an edge dent of 2 inches one the second day skiing these new skis. To be fair though, when I caught my edges I was going very fast to gap over to the rail and when I caught an edge I double ejected, so I think even the k2's may have felt that. However I was able to get them repaired and they havent faltered since.

I talked to a tech guy at my local ski shop and he said that rossignols are usually less durable than the k2's because they use thinner edges, and sintered bases rather than extruded bases and have weaker sidewalls. However the s4's are amazing skis and I don't plan on retiring them until they are either done or as outdated as my PE's.

I can't believe no one has said this but Salomon for sure... Lolz

But for real, I'd say Armada, VolkI, K2 ain't bad and Line as good for the price. I have found Atomic to not be durable tho.

OP, what you need to understand is that this thread has become, what are the most well marketed ski brands?

Almost everyone so far has said line, armada, or both. Is it coinciental that these are the most heavily marketed ski brands right now? no.

Head legitimately makes the best skis. I've been skiing park for 13 years now, owned everything from small to large companies and broken everything from every major brand. My heads are the only skis that are still in tact after 3 seasons of hard use, and still serve as my urban skis today

and i like ON3P's but really to some of the people out there, do you think that 20 days on a pair of skis is enough to judge the durability? Come back after 2 seasons and let us know where your skis stand

In some cases 20 days is enough. if they are falling apart in 20 days the ski is probably shit. But I do agree that if the ski holds up for 20 days it does not mean its a durable ski, Id say after a season or 2 would be a good determination.

The following is based on personal experience. In addition to durability I think it is important to look at how a company takes care of those who have issues. If 98% of a companies skis are bomb proof but they refuse to take care of the remaining 2%, than that is an issue. I would rather buy from a company that has 10% warranty rate, but bends over backwards to help their customers, rather than looks for excuses on why it was the skiers fault. This also asks for a bit more discretion and honesty on behalf of the shop employees and customers. I have seen a pair of skis get brought it for warranty, that had been driven over. The customer had been skiing in low coverage and ripped a large section of base out of the skis, rather than pay for repair, he drove over them, IOT try and warranty them. I called him on it, and ended up selling him a new pair of skis. I also knew a shop tech who would work on burton boards IOT make them look like a warranty issue. These actions undermine all of our integrity, and encourage companies to be sticklers on warranty issues. The same can be said when it comes to hitting rails. The idea that a ski should be able to take getting slammed into a cold iron/steel bar 100s of times a day without damage is ridiculous. Any ski that can take that will either ski like shit, cost a fortune, or be a work of god.

Returning to the main topic of the thread, here are a list of brands that have impressed me with their skis' durability and longitivity. Keep in mind I do not ski rails, but have been known to hit a rock or two, and don't go out oft way to maintain my skis. I do expect my skis to take abuse all season and still ski the same (re: flex pattern) for a couple years at a minumum.

ON3P skis, these have the strongest bases and edges of any ski I have used. I have not had a single core shot or significant edge damage in the last 4 years I have been on them.

Dynastar; I think dynastar makes some of the best damn skis out there. I had both the XXL and Big Trouble for several years, and they skied the same on day 150 as day 1. The flex pattern did not change, but maintained constant for the three seasons I had them. The bases on the big troubles were bullet proof too. They got scratched a bunch, but never more than a few tenths of a mm deep, and no core shots of any kind.

Blizzard; absolutely no problems of any kind.

in my recent experience my friends punx had a large section of the base underfoot that cracked off from the rest of the base and the edges havn't even been damaged, idk how it happened but if your skis can do that then i would say atomic isnt very durable, also salomon sucks and my line chronics have 3 edge cracks and ive prolly been out like 20 times on them

also should say, that I adore moments, and I'm on my second pair, but I did snap the first ones in half.. not being an idiot or anything either. and salomons are a big no.

Definitely delam problems with the Salomon Threats. Suspects had some edge issue pulling out near the tip, but not under the boot.
