As we all know gapers call gaper day "clown day". So I was thinking this morning... what came first gaper day or clown day? was it that gapers noticed kids dressing up, and decided they wanted to do the same but re-named the event? or was it the other way around.

Anywho I might just wear a business suit with a pink cape and a pink little girl's helmet. what about you?

Generally closing day for most ski areas was usually some kind of weird celebration so it probably came from that somewhat.

Pond skimming is probably related too.

Gaper Day at Park City is always April 1st, then Closing Day a couple weeks later is usually the biggest shitshow. Gaper Day was cooold last year- rockin that f'ing goggle gap was miserable and gave me a headache after awhile. I don't know how they do it.

It's only Gaper Day to park kids. Clown day is a much larger celebration by all the rest of the locals. I would say that clown day came first. I can only speak for Park City.
