It is north from the cross country trails. Depending on your gear, skills, snow, etc.. it could take you anywhere from 20-90 minutes to get there from the top of the mountain. The ski out is about the same, plus car shuttle. It faces off to "the Mall" or the Tatamagouche Rd. It is the best consistent fall line on the mountain and higher than the actual ski hill. It is commited and you need to know where the goods are, otherwise the trees can be very tight.
As far as I know it was first skied in the 60's and then again in the 80's and now the 00's.
Again the North Chickadee Ridge that faces the Explosion is not an area to build a ski trail. Because it faces south it has avery hard time retaining snow. So it just ain't ever going to happen unless our temperatures here get about 10 degrees cooler a year.
