Importing video from a T1i?

I know I may get shit for video with the T1i but it's all I can afford with my weak-ass job. And I searchbarred the two first pages of "import video t1i" and got nothing.

So I've been looking around to do this (nowhere in the instruction manual) and I've tried taking out from just the SD card, connecting the camera with USB, and using the EOS Utility software but it still shows up as a black picture with sound on Vegas Pro 9. I'm shooting in 1080p btw, so that may possibly be an issue.

Help is greatly appreciated!

not related but if you're shooting video with the T1i, shoot 720p. I know 1080p is appealing but the 20fps at 1080p makes 720p a better choice.

Thanks dude. I actually didn't know that it only shot at 20fps for 1080. I already had you at a 10 from your vids.

I use to use a t1i as well and I've had the same problem as you with vegas, it has something to do with your quicktime version, I ended up downgrading and it fixed the problem, or you could convert your videos to say avi, or wmv.
but to be honest, just go download adobe premiere pro, its a lot better, and no need to fiddle with your files right out the gate, and after pre-rendering in the timeline, everything plays realtime, so its quite nice.

Would CS4 work just as fine? I'm only finding torrents for CS5 for 64-bit when I only have a 32-bit.

Oh yeah for sure man, I'm using CS4 and it works wonders. If you need any help just shoot me a pm and ill try and help out

If you're on an Apple have you tried importing the files with the Image Capture app to your desktop, then dragging them into whatever editing software you're using?

You usually can't just use raw files from a camera, especially hddslr. Well, you can, but its stupid.

How come? I'm just getting into more HDSLR video stuff so I'm curious why you say you can't use raw files from a camera, and why it's stupid.

well you can, but they're in a shitty format and dont play well unless you have a ballin computer

So are the .mov files I import via Image Capture different than the raw files you're talking about? They play fine on my computer and I haven't run into any complications with editing so far. Just wondering if I'm mistaken somehow with what I think I'm trying to edit!
