Importance of the right type of boots?

I'm a teenager, i make my money and buy all my ski gear and most of my tickets, but this year i won't have enough to buy ski boots so i'll have to rent boots this year, but at the place where i rent my boots, they only rent out racing boots and old regular boots. Are regular boots ok for skiing park in because this year i really hope to progress and I've never been seriously injured and i don't intend to be either. My dad said at my level (average park skier) i don't need good equipment but i'm not so sure he knows what injuries can come of bad equipment and neither am I....
 
Get a proper fitted boot. This is the most important thing to remember.

New or used doesn't really matter. Get sized from a bootfitter and look for your size at swaps. Try a bunch till you get a good boot that fits. Then take to BF and get some custom footbeds and maybe new liner.

Most boot injuries result from improper fits or crappy skiing technique. A softer boot is liked by park riders because a lot of them land wrong so in flexes easier. You look at pro riders they ride like 120-130 flex boots.

 
Indeed, I would go as far as to say that you should sell you other equipment - make enough money to buy a proper set of boots for you needs - and then rent skis. I feel like rental skis are much closer to suit your needs are out of the box, then a pair of rental boots. Buy boots. They influence your day for good or bad that much.
 
Yea you should be able to pick up a booter or something equivalent, for dirt cheep like 2 or 3 hundred. Ask if they have anything from last year. Stay away from rental boots as stated above. Trust me I work at a shop lol, when you own your own boots it's a totally different ball game. Not saying my shops rental boots are shitty but your own boots will always feel better as well as be stiffer. Plus it's for your foot, not everyone's foot so you could get a tighter fit and make them fit your foot.

Sparknotes, try and get something from last year that fits. And go to a boot fitter, we don't bite!
 
ok thanks, if my store has good park boots such as full tilts for around 200 bucks my dad would help me out.
 
There's really no such thing as a good "park boot". The boot that fits you is the best park boot. I could be a Lange race boot and it will work better the the hot dogger if it fits your foot. Remember that.
