Impact shorts question

So I am really considering investing in a pair of impact shorts because evertime I fall on my ass on a rail it leaves a bruise the size of a softball and it hurts like a bitch. A couple things I wanna know is what is in them that makes them protective and do they really work. thanks

plastic and foam usually. yes they work and try some on and get the right size or else they move around and they dont work.

Most are either just foam or hard plastic on top of foam. I've found that you notice them less if they're just foam, but they won't protect as well.

i have a pair of RED impact shorts. best $50 i ever spent. they boost confidence too so i try crazy shit all the time. but i never get hurt on rails

the padded ones work fine but tend to wear out after a while when you continously land on one side it will compress the padding and isn't as effective

i got a pair of protec shorts for 50 bucks, they're awesome, even if i'm not doing rails i still use them for jumps and just skiing around cause they're comfy
