everyone's always talkin shyt bout iMovie cuz it's so easy anyone can use it, that must mean it can't do shyt cept stupid effect...wrong. If you have a mac, get iMovie and download all the plugins you can find, i have about 500 different video effects with mine right now, plus the option of creatin my own. just cuz it's cheap and easy to use doesn't mean that it doesn't rock. Im not dissin premiere, but it's past time for a high quality cheap video editin program.

Final Cut Pro adds a thousand more features, iMovie works for very beginers. I don't like the quality in iMovie, because it never renders most of the stuff very well if at all. Go pro and get more.

how is express, I'm gettin it with my new computer

and I though iMovie 3 was pretty good, I was limited alot but I could also develop my own methods for cool effects, titles, etc.

I wish it did matte and blue screen though

express lacks some of the more advanced features of the pro version, things like some filters, timecode, etc...

FCP is the best prog imo. Better than Premiere.

imovie is not at the same level as premier. you can't say that imovie is soo much more affordable, you get what you pay for with premier.

yeah I wish I could get FCP4 or adobe production bundle, but $99 is about all my college funds will allow me at the moment

keep in mind it comes standard on (all of? at least most) macs. If all you need is something to cut and put together clips, maybe add a simple title and a fade, its good enough.

Well Final Cut Express is Waaay beyond iMovie, for any length of editing longer than one clip, and it actualy renders the slow motion, so it's not just a hard 15 fps or something. I've used Pro, and it has a few more features that I'd like, but it really doesn't make that much of a difference unless your going die hard quality, and need the extra stuff.

is there any option besides photoshop? cause I can't afford that 500 for it, and I don't know anyone else with it to pirate it from or with

iMovie=easy

Final Cut Express=easy but $

Final Cut Pro=easy but $$$$

Adobe Premiere=shit-not worth it-don't buy it

ALl three are pretty basic to use, but which one is best depends on what you need it for.

There's no point to using Final Cut Pro if you're making home movies. But if you're shooting a video, it's indespensible. And no one should be using any version of FInal Cut to do effects. If you need a Final Cut program, then you need Adobe After Effects. Plain and simple.
