I got a ton of footage given to me from a Canon Vixia HFS100 camera. The HD footage was saved to a PC and then I transfered it to my Mac using an external hard drive. The files are .mts and .cpi. I can't get them to play or import into iMovie. I don't have any other software at the moment and need to figure out how to get them into iMovie.
Anyone have this problem and know some solutions??????

.mts files in know play and can be edited on adobe premiere elements but that would cost you around $80 to get it. i use this and it is great for the price and there is a mac version however it does not support .cpi

on mac mts should work with Apple Final Cut Pro but that is different from imovie and costs something like $1000

hope this helps i will look in to it some more if you like

Thanks for the info! I was guessing I would need other software, but I really don't have the money to get them now. Anyone have any ideas on how to trick iMovie into importing the files like they're coming straight from the camera? If I'm not mistaken, the files would import or be read by iMovie if they came straight from the actual camera not just sharing the files from storage devices like I did.

i have this same same problem...does anyone have wondershare and i could use ur email/password? i just need to convert some files and ill be done. really wanna start editing my hood footy.

There a quite a few programs that do this, but they cost around $30, not expensive, but pretty stupid considering you would probably not use it a lot. Good convert MTS files to AVi for mac

first post and a 3 year old bump, sick haha
