Imminent knee injury??

I've been going really hard this season in general on top of being on my first season of park. I'm about 30 days in this season which is a lot considering I'm like 2h away from my local resorts

Anyway, I've been noticing a slight discomfort in my left knee. Like top and above my knee cap area. It's fine when I'm walking around but it kinda bothers me when I'm walking up stairs or bend my knee a lot

So I got a question for peeps that had knee injuries before. Did your knee bother you before you blew your acl/mcl etc? I'm skiing like every weekend and not sure if I should take it easy or what

Hey dude, I've had ongoing patellar tendon problems for years, symptoms come in variety of different forms, from pain under and around the knee cap to clicking/popping when walking up stairs and squatting. Patellar tracking/inflammation problems generally arise from "going hard" at least in my experience. I'm no doctor, but unless you can pin point a particular instance when the pain began ie. twisting, impact etc. I doubt you knee is about to explode. If you're concerned go see some kind of medical professional, and they can quickly assess possible issues, laxity etc. Hope that helps. Keep charging!

big help thank you

it doesn't really HURT or anything. just discomfort. i wanted to know if there was some sort of a tell-tale sign before you blow your ACL and junk.

I'm guessing it just happens from bad landings etc?

I've got a sprained patellar tendon right meow.I just wear a neoprene brace and listen to my body when on the slopes. I get a burning sensation like I am being stung by 100 bees at once right above my knee-cap if I hit it the wrong way but other than that it doesn't bother me too much other than being sore the day following skiing.

Just listen to your body and don't be ashamed to call it a day if it's telling you it's had enough.

I've got a stretched ACL and half torn MCL on my left knee. I still ski hard (with a brace). It only hurts with a twisting motion and even gives out. So if it doesn't hurt twisting I'm sure your ACL is fine, and if it does not hurt laterally than your MCL is good. Those two seem to be the most common. You probably should rest, Ibuprofen, and Ice. Maybe take it a little easy your next time skiing. You might just have some wear under, above the knee.

This happened to me all last season, it was just patellar tendonitis. If this is what you have then you're no more likely to get a serious injury, but if you stretch your quad out it should help with the pain.

What I do is find a chair (with a padded seat) that is roughly knee hight, then rest the top of your foot on it and kneel down so your knee dips to the ground, as illustrated by my masterful MS Paint skillz.

I second this ^ Although if that's what it is then it will go away with time, don't push too hard and try not to just ski all the time, try to mix your sports up from time to time, it worked for me!

I have a knee injury right now, if it hurts over a longer time i will recommend you to go see a docter, don`t fuck with your knees man!

your knee's are very important for athletic activity. You know your body better than anyone else. Im guessing you think that you have a hint something is wrong if you posted a thread on NS. Go see a docta!
