If NS had their own magazine my life would be complete... it would probably cost way too much money and would have to increase their staff by like a billion... but with all the top magazines slackin I think it is an interesting idea to think about again (I saw an old thread about it in 05) but no one seemed to stoked on the idea, just curious about what u guys think now...
 
yeah i think this has been brought up before. it would be sick indeed, but everything you need is rigt here.. it wouldnt be really anydifferent than the news on the home page, and the team updates.. idk. it could work
 
yea def that would be so sick and u have so much resources here on ns and we could have so much impact on how the mag turned out i def think if ns gets mroe big sponsors like nike and stuff we could pull it off
 
yeah ive always thought ns needs a magazine, and it would probably be a really sick magazine if we did have one
 
Been discussed so many times... a magazine would take away the money and resources that would into creating more unique features on the website...
 
i thought of this a long time ago...but i dont think NS has the staff for it. it would be a dope mag though. all the content is already here. imagine..."member of the month", "cover design contest"...the possibilities are endless.
 
to me it would seem like a waste. cost so much, add so much more staff. i mean whats the point of having the magazine, when you have this whole website, with basically everything that would be in the magazine and more
correct me if im wrong, this is just my thought

its not like we are gonna change it to Newschoolers.com - skiings paper community

the paper can't be a community, only a supplement.. which i think would be grand.

Hahahah yes, I'm so happy this picture was brought back. So happy in fact, that I completely disregarded my initial impulse to make a stupidly sarcastic post about how NS magazine would contain all sorts of awesome information about how smoking weed makes you like the coolest cat ever, how Li'l Wayne is the best rapper ever, how Tom Wallisch's dick should be in your mouth at all times, how you should feel about the fact that you're just now getting pubic hair, and how eheath is really really fat. But I didn't. C'est la vie.
 
thats crazy i was reading a freeskier the other day and was thinkn how shitty it was and i was like man y doesnt ns make a mag. itd be so dope!! and 10x better then freeskier. DO IT!!!!
 
the entire mag could be made up of fellow nsers donating their work, the site is full of photographers, people who work and know the ski industry, and plenty of artists for graphic work... im sure ppl would donate their time to get a chance to have their work in a magazine... i would
 
Ya for sure I definately don't think they'd be short on photos and graphics
It has potential to make more money through ads and subscriptions too
 
the trick to making money is to not give-out free subscriptions

who knows, Freeskier.com recently became a community website, maybe now NS wants to start a magazine lol
 
we did pretty much have a magazine......it was called Ski Time....and from what i remember it did not work that great and the editor (the great and wonderful harvey) now works for freeskier.
 
if NS made a magazine that would be sick. it would be much better than powder or freeskier. i bet it would go over really well
 
NS made an online only periodical at one point. I forget the name though.

Maybe someone else can help out there.
 
I dont see the point of a paper copy since we all realize how much faster information/videos/photos travel on the net comapre to oldschool mags.

The NS mag would be outdated by the time it took to mail to your house :P
 
Me too. A periodic Supplement of NS member supplied media along with a feature article or two would be good for NS in the long run.
 
I think the biggest advantage of anNS magazine would be to reach out to other people who don't know what NS is, both skiers and non skiers. A large percentage of the NS member count are lost accounts, aliases, etc. I am always suprised when I ask someone, you got an ns account? and they say "what's NS?". At that point my heart flutters and I faint. When I reawake I say WTFFF?

It would be good publicity. Personally though I love NS how it is though.
 
If an ns movie gets done, then I think this could get done. Besides, theres so much content on this site already it would just have to be put into a magazine format. Think about all the front page features that there are in a month. They would make for a huge magazine, and with all the people that use NS, users could contribute content, we could have the actual team updates in the mag.... It certainly has potential.
 
The internet has no shelf life. An interesting edgy little skiing rag would sit around and likely get to more people from a different, yet sort of the same audience to notice newschoolers.com. Think skiing community..
 
I think it would be so dope. Because Freeze is gone, Freeskier is kinda all there is. Don't get me wrong I enjoy checking out the new freeskier when they come out, but they are mostly ads and articles about parties, and it's the same people in every issue. I think a newschoolers one would be awesome because it has a much more athlete driven feeling. The newschoolers news is way more interesting then freeskier's. Newschoolers is a better website, and would be a better mag too... Even if they only did a few issues a year.
 
Such a good point. The only problem would be coming up with enough articles to fill a magazine on top of keeping the online news alive.
 
Realistically I dont think this could ever happen, but maybe NS could have its own section in Powder or something like 4 pages? Thatd be pretty damn ill~

like we could have a 4 page section in freeskier that we can do whatever we want with
advertising for newschoolers, and will definitely get freeskier more subscriptions
 
Dude, NS is already like a magazine, but better because we find shit out quicker than waiting for a whole new magazine to come out, and articles/updates are written very often for us to read, much like a magazine, except better because you can get them on the spot right after they are written.
 
word, a monthly magazine would be pointless imo, but a photo annual type thing could generate revenue for the site, even if it didnt it would be sick.
 
FYI - studio 411 was sold to VAS and therefore no longer has any affiliation with Newschoolers.com

the magazine idea was tried about 8 years ago. it was going to be an e-zine entitled UNITY but ultimately failed.
 
i think it wouldnt work. it would be the same as this, but no forum and no videos. it would be close to all the other mags. unless it was a bit cheaper than ppl would buy it
