Imagine if...

I thought about this the other day while filming a college football game.

What if the world had other priorities in sports and instead of football, basketball, baseball etc. and instead skiing(freestyle) was viewed the same way.

Imagine now that instead of football players getting scholarships. We would be getting payed scholarships at the best universities. The football pros are the equivalent of our skiing pros, however it is the above average skier which resembles college level competitive players. Some players get free university, housing, and can pass any class on the basis that if the teacher fails them, the ski team would lose its glory.

I just found this parallel crazy when I thought about it. its wierd how the value is all given to college sports, when skiers (for example) are atheletes of the same level. it would be crazy if we were in a different world with value to skiing.

just a thought.

i dont think it would be possible to make 700k a year sliding down snow really fast doing spins, there just isn't a big enough audience.

Ive definetly thought about that too. I think that those other sports are so much bigger because they have fewer restrictions like snow and mountains/ hills. This then leads those sports to be worth so much more money because they have more fans because more people have access to the sports. Anyways I think it would be really cool if there was a situation like the one you described and I think there might be some day, or at least more ballanced.
